To answer, drinking beer, smoking hand rolled cigarrettes.

They picked House #3.
Now Property Virgins is on. I think they film this show in Canada. I like Canadian accents. :) I guess I better get some reading done. Or maybe I'll do the crosswords. I think I'll make myself an iced latte! Yah! Hope you all are having a good time out there! :) I don't understand why people get so excited about crown molding!

"bout time for me to hit a book as well, this is lame. Working on Natham McCall's "Makes me wanna holler." Should be required reading for white oys like me.

I need to finish this little blue book called "The Commitment." hehe... I love the part where Dan talks about being a pack rat. I never would have guessed! I always think that if something catastrophic happens like what happened in Pompeii and the volcano, future people will have a good time digging through all the junk in our house! I especially hope that they enjoy my book collection. :) Of course, that would depend on the books not getting burned up in the disaster.

Damn....I finished it. I got Hesse's "Glass Bead Game" on tap, but not sure I wanna tackle that while boozed up...it's a conundrum indeed.

Hell I'm at work! I get more done between 5:00AM and 8:30AM than I do the rest of the day.

It's about noon here in Marrakech. And without AC it's pretty hot too. So I ask myself the same question--why am I up?

I'm just checking news headlines and e-mail while getting ready to go out for dinner. In Singapore.

I'm in Western Australia. We're 12 hours ahead of NYC. I just got home from worh where having drinks together, paid by the company, is normal on a Friday afternoon. Sick pay and holiday leave are also normal. I love this place. Dan, have you tried yoga?

Sweet, I think I can sleep now, thanks for boring me to death everyone! Mr. Feynman might keep me up though, he's a tricky bastard!

NITE!

Having lunch, it's 12:30 in the UK. Sorry you're having trouble sleeping.

Please try not to end up with an alternate personality bent on destroying civilisation as we know it, K?

Oh... wait...

Dan,
I'm so sorry - I've been there. I end up out of bed as well beacause lying in bed staring at teh ceiling doesn't help me sleep, nor does lying in bed with my eyes clenched shut put me to sleep. The trick for me is to have something that distracts me enough to help me forget that I am not sleeping, but does not stimulate me enough to keep me awake. It used to be ABC's overnight news, but there are too many commercials now, and that ends up pissing me off and keeping me awake. I usually end up on an old movie, or 'E', or PBS.

I try to minimize the likelyhood that I will wake up as well. Absolutely no caffiene after noon, few liquids after 8 pm. I no longer wait until I am fully awake to do the night time urination - I just get up and go, and usually fall right back to sleep. And no naps on the days after you do not sleep, and no early bed time.

I hope this helps.

Try Rozerem instead.

Give Sleep MD a try Mr Savage - it's over-the-counter & contains Melatonin & some snooze-herbs. It can work. Rozerem is only a pricey, prescription-only version of Melatonin that's been modified to supposedly last longer.

Dan didn't post this at 2:26 AM. He posted it way before, only setting it to pop up at that time.

Dan, I feel your pain...this has been happening to me for the past week. It has gotten to the point where I DREAD going to bed. SO frustrating. I can't even sleep in. After going a whole night without sleeping more than an hour before I wake up with a mind full of chatter, I can't sleep in?? What is wrong with me??!!

Not that it's my place to worry about you, Dan--or to ever hand out advice--but if this has been going on for awhile, you might want to consult a doctor. You need to take care of yourself.

There are any number of things Dan could use to help him sleep.

We've all given him tips so many times, it's foolish to be concerned with it anymore.

The man doesn't want to sleep! He wants to whine about not being able to sleep.

Damn, I was up about this time, listening to my fucking neighbors jammin' on the bass and drums. FUCK YOU, ASSHOLES. It's been going on since they moved in last month. Last night I finally called the cops, and I'll call them again.

@36 I empathize. I have a loudster house across the street from me. With an outdoor ping pong table. Imagine ping pong noise at 2am. It's enough to drive you to insanity.

Thanks, Dan, for using my suggestion for an insomniac thread, hope it helps put some people to sleep!

It's not just that they're loud, they're also totally incompetent. I want to buy a copy of Drumming For Dummies and leave it on their porch. YOU DON'T HAVE TO HIT ALL OF YOUR TOMS ON EVERY MEASURE, especially if you can't keep a steady beat. The guy sounds like a drunk dropping a TV down a flight of stairs.

And then had to wake up at 7:30 ...
