Actually, what I think is more significant is your use of an apostrophe in your pluralization of the word "American".
What's even more significant is that this is a straight-forward post from Charles, with no implications about Marxism, architecture, or hot African ladies.
This excerpt does not say what percentage actually views it as a problem. You have to link to the other page to find only 56% do, which means that a full 15% of Americans think they are less respected, but do not care. Still, 56% is pretty high, I guess.
Actually, what's MOST significant is that the people polled seemed to be aware that there were actually other countries in the world at all.
