Notably, the police are "investigating," but not arresting, the father.

Two forms of prejudice are at work here:

1. That violence against a gay citizen is not a real crime

2. That violence by a parent to an adult child is not a real crime.

Especially in the south.

In the fathers defense the boy was wearing his sleeveless Pitcher shirt to the parade so the dad just wanted to play baseball in the front yard. The mother was not there to explain that their son prefers a different sort of game where balls come flying at his face. So Dan is right in this case a child needs both a mother to explain to the father.

According to the son, this was the father's earnest effort to �cast the demon of homosexuality out" of his child. So his apparent rationale was that he did it precisely because he's a good parent.

Ugh, I feel nauseous.

@8, that's obvious - baseball bats for all! And I mean everybody! Especially in church. MADN - Mutually Assured Noggin Destruction.

@2 - don't forget that folks in the South are also keen on violence against criminals, suspected criminals, and funny furrin' people in funny furrin countries that don't do what our President (God's other son) demands.
