SEATTLE: Jazz vocalist Ernestine Anderson’s U.S. home has been saved from foreclosure — for now. Thanks, in part, to music legend Quincy Jones and contemporary jazz artist Diane Schuur.
More than $43,000 poured in — including donations from Jones and Schuur — after news stories about the Seattle jazz legend’s financial woes, said Carmen Gayton, a friend of Anderson’s family.
And now please enjoy Ms. Anderson singing a cover of that Buffalo Springfield song, “about the youth rebellion in Los Angeles.”

That background is what the inside of Mr. Poe's brain looks like. Honest.
Was this the woman whose monthly mortgage was $5,000 per month?
Key part of the article:
Anderson is one of dozens of people facing foreclosure in her Central District neighborhood. More than 200 houses face foreclosure in Anderson's zip code, according to Realty Trac, a Web site that tracks foreclosures.
Also, it's kinda sad to see jazz greats forced to kowtow to rock in order to keep a fan base.
I'm glad her house was saved, but that is the worst arrangement of "For What It's Worth" I have ever heard.
It's like a mash-up of "For What It's Worth" and "Walk on By"...
But I'm very glad she gets to stay put.
Ernestine is a legend. That said, that is an AWFUL cover.
I didn't understand from the original article how she had a $500,000 loan on the house. She has lived there 50 years or something. That house had to be paid for. Did someone swindle her to get a Home Equity loan or something?
@8: She refinanced in order to pay medical expenses for a close relative.
I don't hate the arrangement but it does remind me of when Ford used a this style version of Light My Fire for a Pinto ad.
Brendan obviously hates Ernestine Anderson.
BTW, I thought she was dead. Does she perform anymore?
