Which is a goddamned shame. As I've written before, I'm wishing and praying this is the year that the evangelical right shatters into a thousand pieces—some defecting to Obama; some staying home; some voting for a faction-splitting, born-again equivalent of Ralph Nader; some caving and voting for McCain, thereby driving a wedge between themselves... Evangelical leaders are quick to sell out when they think they can gain some power. Look at how Pat Robertson endorsed cross-dressing, gay-loving, abortion-supporting Rudy Giuliani. Way to be a rock, Pat.

Dobson doesn't like either front-runner. He cannot support Obama, but if he can be a linchpin for getting McCain elected, he'll get some serious influence in the White House. He'll sell out if it looks like his endorsement will guarantee a win, otherwise, he'd be smart to play it safe and just keep quiet. I don't see McCain generating that kind of confidence, though.
