At Howard House. (Gallery site here.)

I would like to dedicate this installment of Currently Hanging to Amy Kate Horn, whose last day at the paper is today.

My bike was stolen earlier this week (yes, it was locked). That really, really sucked. But Amy Kate’s departure is worse. Amy Kate’s departure makes me feel like doing what the above image depicts.

When Amy Kate announced she was leaving a while back, I said, “I hate it.” I’m wearing black today.

I probably don’t have to tell you, Slog, but Amy Kate is an emotional center for this paper. (And, as you might not know, for me.) She’s calm, reasonable, and organized. When something goes wrong, she fixes it. She actually fixes it! I don’t know if you’ve met her, but there is something deeply reassuring about this woman.

I will truly, madly, deeply miss her.

She truly is a genuinely nice gal with a good heart.

Which is probably why she left.

I'll miss her too. She was an excellent Slog host when I Freaky Friday'd and Guest Slogged. Hey Amy Kate -- Thanks for both opportunities.

(And can I have my own Slog key before you go? I promise not to abuse it, but there are important issues like Cindy McCain's beady eyes that aren't being properly covered on Slog)

Best wishes wherever you land, young lady.

I've never met Amy Kate, but I will sincerely miss her reliably intelligent Slog posts.

You're the awesomest, Mizz Horn. Does anyone else at The Stranger even know what a dictionary IS? And I'm totally up for that fishing trip anytime.

Amy Kate classed this joint up (as well as Slog Happies) and it won't be the same without her.

I hope, whatever happens, the delightful Ms. Horn will see fit to occasionally grace both the SLOG and our monthly meet-ups; so far as I'm concerned, she'll always be welcome where ever SLOGers congregate.

Amy Kate Horn, and I don't care...
Amy Kate Horn, and I don't care...
Amy Kate Horn, and I don't carrrrrrrrrrre!
Too bad she's gone away!

Now, to that art: When Lladro Attacks!

I have to agree with the description, and personally attest to her great sense of humor and equanimity, even in the face of our anti-pitbull sentiments.

Totally agree.

When Jesus took Bradley away from us, that was hard, but I said it's God's plan, right? But now Amy Kate gone forever? Why, Lord? Why? How many beautiful young people must we mourn to satisfy your craven lust for virgin blood?

I renounce you, cannibal God! No more will I worship at your gore-soaked alter of woe! Man is better off without such a fiend ever sucking at our throats like the parasite you are, foul Deity! Out, cruel God! Out!

I would like to nominate Amy Kate Horn for Patron Saint of the Slog.

Thanks for everything, you will be missed.

She's a Pocket Person...so adorablicious you want to put her in your pocket and take her home to adore, (but not in a nasty way)

Another person leaving?? It's like a tsunami of actually qualified people moving on over there. Good thing we still have plenty of under qualified people like ECB to complain about.

I'll miss her too! Bye Amy Kate. You and Golob have long been my favorites.
