Say "YES" to War on Iraq

by Dan Savage
October 2002

"War may be bad for children and other living things, but there are times when peace is worse for children and other living things, and this is one of those times."

"In the meantime, invading and rebuilding Iraq will not only free the Iraqi people, it will also make the Saudis aware of the consequences they face if they continue to oppress their own people while exporting terrorism and terrorists. The War on Iraq will make it clear to our friends and enemies in the Middle East (and elsewhere) that we mean business: Free your people, reform your societies, liberalize, and democratize... or we're going to come over there, remove you from power, free your people, and reform your societies for ourselves

Comment by raindrop

If people actually watched Fox they would know that Bill O'Reilly has stated that we should have found another way to remove Saddam. Not quite the current White House line, is it. Administrations have been sending memos to media throughout our history. Whatever enters the newsroom doesn't matter, when you think about it. It's about how its processed. McClellan essentially said what I did to Chris Mathews. But leave it to Keith and Rachel to extrapolate most disengenously. So now which network is the more balaned?

Journalistic objectivity? Has there ever been a more naive notion? Especially when the "journalism" is coming from corporations striving to make a profit? Is it shocking that active propaganda is taking place in America? Come on.

Comment by Perfect Voter

I often wondered why certain buzz words ("talking points") from the WH daily briefing would simultaneously be heard coming from Fox News readers and talkers -- not quoting from WH sources, but using the words as if they were their own.

I surmised that the Daily Talking Points were being emailed to FN every day; now we know. (There's a reason that Dick Cheney insists that every TV in his hotel rooms be pre-tuned to FN, before his arrivals.)
