Au Revoir à Moi

posted by on July 10 at 13:37 PM

Slog friends and foes, I’m leaving The Stranger at the end of this month, so tonight’s will be my last Slog Happy. (There’s no drama behind the scenes; I’m just hungry for a new challenge.) Come down and tell me how much you’ll miss me, why don’t you? They’re reserving space on the deck for us.

Why was Amy Kate fired? What's the story, Dan?

Just kidding.

Sorry to see you go Amy, best of luck with your future efforts!

I was thinking about making an appearance... but things are really tight this month, you know, with that mental recession going on and all.

All the best to you!

Amy Kate belly dances? Hot.

Not sure if I'll make it tonight folks, even though I'm two blocks away. Deadlines n'shit.

She's probably off to work for the Pit Bull Conservancy.

I'll go if AKH belly dances and STM balances a sword on her head, tho.

Congrats and you'll be missed.

the bad news: Amy Kate's being replaced by "Chelsea Alvarez-Bell"....at least for a week or so, when Mark Mitchell will take over.

What's up with this? First Brad S. announced he's leaving and now you?! Sad for us, but glad you're excited about moving on to other, perhaps greener pastures.

@9 Come on. Caaa-maaaaahn! If you're only two blocks away, doesn't that mean you could just go back to the office afterward?

See you all tonight!

Sad to see you go, Amy Kate. Any idea where you'd like to land?

I can't blame you for leaving. Wish you the best, and sorry I can't make it. Good luck.

Aw! Why can't Charles and ECB move on to bigger and bett-... well, just move on?

Good luck!

If you must know:

Aislinn is at school tonight and has no internet except at my apartment.

I'm finishing the 2009 edition of very large ICD-9-CM coding book after converting it completely to the software-based book generator/compiler that I wrote over the last three months.

I haven't hung out with Poe and the jew in over a month, and I have no idea what he's up to tonight.

AMY KATE! You go right back in there and unresign! You hear me, young lady?

You'll be missed. I might not have started slogging if it wasn't for you. I think I asked Corianton to settle a dispute as to whether a salacious word, which I've sadly forgotten now, was hyphenated, two words, or one word. It might have been "buttmunch". You sided with me, and ever since I've been an Amy Kate Hornbooster.

I'm psyched for the best part of Slog Happy, namely, the dramatic moment when Mr. Poe doesn't show up.

Shit. Amy Kate, you are awesome. Sorry I can't be there tonight. Good luck wherever you land.

And remember- though you may look a teensy weensy bit like Diablo Cody, I met her at a party and you're way cooler and better looking.

I've always loved three-named personalities, especially ones as nice as AKH - but as a former sailor, there's never a time I don't think of you as Amy Cape Horn. Best of luck in your new less salacious work indulgences. Cheers....

Working at the Stranger isn't a challenge?

Who's Dan going to call in the middle of the night now to fix the grammar and spelling in his Slog posts?

Good luck to you, AKH.

Aw, Amy Kate, we're all going to miss you. You've kept commenters and Slog and Slog Happy in line and you've done it wonderfully. Good luck with the new challenge. Wish I could tell you in person, but the apartment won't clean itself.

Amy Kate...sniff...

I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever forget you for inviting me to Freaky Friday. It came at a really tough time in my life (you know...I'm doing much better now, thank you), so it was a nice ego boost.

I really wish I was in Seattle tonight.

Maybe I'll make it next time, but for this month, I'm gonna make like Mr. Snuffleupagus and stay in hiding. But I hope everyone has fun and doesn't get so wasted they have to call in sick for work Friday. Or whatever.

Good luck, Amy.

malheuresement, i arrived as the party was breaking up. there was absolutement pas de privacy on that deck! however, the leftover pommes frites were delicious and la vue tres belle. and amy never looked lovelier!

let's all do this again next month, but at a place with more room and privacy. maybe havana's.

Sorry I missed you Ms. Tyler Moore.

At first I couldn't believe that Amy Kate was leaving, and then I felt really put out that she would do such a thing. I started to feel like if only she would stay a little longer maybe it would be all right, and then I was just sad about it. But now I feel like maybe things will be OK after all.

Next month, can we be at someplace with those absurd child barriers around the bar (the ones at El Chupacabra are the most laughable) so I can strap the man child to me?

I feel a bit sad missing Slog Happy, but I figured since it's been a month since I posted anything, I could sit this one out. At least I heard that it, uh, wasn't very fun, so I don't feel so left out.

I just meant that a month from now that kid will have been out. One way or another.

Congratulations, and good luck on your new venture, Amy Kate. You've truly been a class act at The Stranger.
