“Best drive thru in Washington,” says the boyfriend—and he should know, as he spends a lot of time driving thru Washington to see his mom back in Spokane.

Is that Ellensburg?

It sure is Ellensburg. I stopped in there at random once, I didn't know it had a reputation.

Beware, annoying music at the following link.

Awfully nice sign they got there.

Hell yeah! Good to see some Eburg on the Slog, for the very few of us over here who are still connected to reality...the specialty at Campus is the deep-fried cauliflower. Worth the stop.

Good thing all that $4.50 gas is causing poor folks to reduce their carbon footprints. Otherwise all those cross-state drives would be full of guilt.

@5--Cross state? I think it might even be cross-country. See you in the great midwest soon, Dan!

I've been journeying back and forth to Spokane from Seattle for almost 23 years, (and I almost always stop in E-burg for some food,) but I've never heard of Campus. I thought I knew of everywhere good to eat in that town but now I've got something new to try! Thanks Dan & Dan's boyfriend!

Wow, the BF is from Spokane and he doesn't defend the Whammy from Dicks on Third Avenue? Ouch. Back before Spokane had gay bars, Dicks was one of our favorite gathering spots (well, it was better than hanging out near the bus station). It was known as Ricardo's Club 49 (for the price of its hamburgers).

In Tempe, we called the U-Tot-EM mini mart by campus "U-Scrot-uM"

Zips owns Eastern WA.

Dick's is pretty good. D Lish's Burgers are pretty tasty, but they're just have two locations in Spokane, and one is in the mall.

Campus U Tote Em is legendary. Order the buffalo burger for the absolute best. I do believe that Big Tom's in Oly gives them a run for their money.

@3 there's a hand painted menu board inside. Dom Casual the way it was meant to be enjoyed.

Eh, Campus U-Tote-'ems are okay, but I'll take a Super Mother from The Tav over them any day of the week.

I dig that sign font! I am so grooving on the Doris Day 60s lately.

It's not bad, but the best places for long drives to Spokane are the Beefalo joints just off I-90 and along SR-2.

Yum!

not as cool as this gem from my home state

The Tav does defeat Campus any day.

COMTE for the win. Nothing in Ellensburg touches Hungry/Super mothers at the TAV (now that momma's cookin cajin is long past).

I have blue hungry mother cards scattered through all my old college stuff.

@11 I was going to throw the Airway Heights Zips into the fray...but yes, Ritzville.
That'll do.

Alpen Drive In off of Highway 2 FTW.

So delicious, especially after a good day at Stevens.

The Ritzville Zips is too uneven, best Zips is in the Spokane Valley on Sprague a couple blocks east of Sullivan. Zips rocks though, as does Dick's. Since I commute back to my home in Spokane every other weekend I gotta try the Ellensburg place, I'm sick of the KFC there especially since my kid started working at one and told me how nasty the chickens are.

Isn't that the Beefalo place, danny?

Wow, lots of people doing these cross state trips from Spokanistan back to Seattle (area). I never knew about Campus, so this is one to try. Thanks Dan and Dan's BF/partner!

Zips definitely does own and I'm particularly fond of the one in the Valley.

As a native of Eastern Washington who lived in Ellensburg for seven years before moving to Buffalo, NY, I'm just about crying in my cubicle right now, 2,600 miles of I-90 between me and Campus U-Tote-Em. Will The Stranger please give me a job so I can get the hell out of Buffalo and move back to where I belong? I'm so homesick I'm going to punch myself in the face.
