WRONG! They're not all boring, Constant. The Dead Shot section is pretty cool, as is the training-in-India section.
It's not great, but it's not as unwatchable as you make it sound.
The animated series was good, not least because of Mark Hamill as the Joker.
The only thing worse than renting it? Needing a Bat-fix so bad you go to three different stores to buy the damn thing and having it suck exactly as bad as Constant said it did.
I have never been so bored in my entire life. Awful, awful, awful. The only redeeming quality was using the same actor from the animated series for Batman. Not that it mattered, since the pacing was so goddamn excruciating.
One of my favourite episodes of Batman: TAS was the Grey Ghost story. To have Adam West guest-star was awesome on too many levels.
This was the only time I've regretted getting stoned before watching a cartoon.
The cover art looks like warning enough of a suck-fest to me.
(The relationship between cover and content is indirect, granted, but it is not non-existent [popular aphorism to the contrary].)
@5 almost made me spit tea all over my keyboard.
And @3: Kevin Conroy is the awesomest Batman ever, and clearly the best thing about this awful movie.
Ouch. That sucks to hear. Then again, I'm never too crazy about tie-ins across multiple media anyway. I want my canon to be consistent across one format, dammit!
Can't believe you skipped the animated series to watch this stuff. The 90's show was dark, funny, touching, and terrifying, for being a cartoon, anyway. The sheer craziness that was the Mark Hamill Joker (stalking the guy who simply yelled at him during a moment of road rage) was horrifyingly delicious.
Batman: TAS is probably my favorite superhero cartoon of all time (I really like the old X-Men series too, but it takes 2nd place due to inconsistent animation). I remember back when I was a kid, my entire family would watch it together.
Yes, well and good, but did you enjoy the Wonder Woman animated preview? Or were you that disgusted with the Batman stuff to not even bother?
On the upside, Star Wars Clone Wars looks like it may be better than the canon prequels.
That's some faint praise, though. And I remember the first trailer for Episode I being pretty exciting, too.
@10: I loved X-Men too. I'd put the 90s Spiderman cartoon at third for all-time favourite superhero shows.
I have to watch this now that Jonah said something about dead shot being in it.
Sad pants...I was looking forward to this. Sigh.
