really, why don't you just leave them there. It take me 0.05 seconds to scroll part a troll post. And if I have even the slightest understanding of troll psychology, this very post will trigger 100 more "WARDANBAD" comments.

c)Dan Savage
d)John McCain
Answer: c-Dan Savage

"In the meantime, invading and rebuilding Iraq will not only free the Iraqi people, it will also make the Saudis aware of the consequences they face if they continue to oppress their own people while exporting terrorism and terrorists. The War on Iraq will make it clear to our friends and enemies in the Middle East (and elsewhere) that we mean business: Free your people, reform your societies, liberalize, and democratize... or we're going to come over there, remove you from power, free your people, and reform your societies for ourselves."

I'm scared.

I posted a comment here earlier, it was #1. Did it get completely deleted?

The problem is that the dead and maimed are still dead and maimed and the Iraqi people are still suffering and dying. Dan had his fun promoting the war and ridiculing the anti-war folks. It was all just the usual Stranger/Slog everything is fair for abuse and snark routine. Now everyone-let's move on.

But, but-why should assholes like Ruch Limbaugh and Dick Cheny be treated with dis-respect and held accountable for supporting the war, and Dan Savage forgiven?

@8 (Hoping you're just some asshole and not the troll in question)

In answer to your question:

Because unlike Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney, Dan Savage has since recanted and now vehemently opposes the war.

Why are you all hating on ECB and the new SLOG poster?

Ahhh #9 BUT---

The dead and maimed are still dead and maimed and the Iraqi people are still suffering and dying.

They don't give a fuck that Dan has recanted! And neither do I!

Human beings are machine-gunned and bombed from the air, automatic grenade launchers pepper hovels and neighbors with high-powered explosive devices, and convoys race through Iraq like freight trains of death. These soldiers and Marines have at their fingertips the heady ability to call in airstrikes and firepower that obliterate landscapes and villages in fiery infernos. They can instantly give or deprive human life, and with this power they become sick and demented. The moral universe is turned upside down. All human beings are used as objects. And no one walks away uninfected.

What's the point of discussion, argumentation, having an opinion, et al, if people like #5 refuse to allow you to change your mind?

If we work with the logic of the asshat @ 5, then none of us fags should be allowed to say we're gay. Because we all at one point in our life swore we were straight.

I used to believe in God, but now I don't. I can't say I'm an atheist because once upon a time I believed in God. Same thing applies for Santa Clause. And the TMNT.

This is fun!

People change their minds? I've never heard of such a thing.

Leave the posts. We've ignored the troll so much it's second nature to skim right on by.

Bye Amy! Bye Dan! By Dan's fans! I'll be back!

As long as Dan's war on the people of Iraq continues I'll be reminding folks that he helped make all this possible. He had a choice: he could oppose the war and the inevitable death and suffering; or he could support it. He supported the death and suffering. His is the worst kind of jingoistic =war mongering: he's an armchair warrior just ike the rest of you superficial sloggers. Back to eating assholes folks.

I have to admit it, I have not been Slogging as much lately with the fucking trolls on here.

WHEN WILL WE HAVE REGISTERED USER NAMES????!!!!!!!

@13 & 16

Oh come on. That isn't going to change a thing. It's not like this douchebag drops by daily. It's periodical. It won't take him more than three minutes to create a gmail account, validate registration, and go hogwild. Trust me. I'm Mr. Poe. I know trolling.

You start registering names I quit looking at Slog. The forum is cliquey enough as it is.

Just one thing, troll; are you doing this to people who haven't recanted and who might actually argue with you, or are you being a coward and just spamming Slog? Inquiring (and slightly bored) minds want to know!

I honestly had no idea that Dan Savage was responsible for so much of what goes on in this country, especially in regards to foreign policy.

For srsly, the list of Dan's crimes reads like the lyrics to "We Didn't Start the Fire."

Whew, it's gonna take awhile to recover from this drama.

Might I humbly suggest a post of some excellent man-candy to help restore our faith in humanity? What's that English rugby player Ben Cohen been up to lately? I could snack on his ass for a week.

So is this thread kind of like the "art walls" discussed in Jonah's post? Keep the trolls happy in their very own post so they don't commit their crimes elsewhere on the slog?

@20 I second the request for man candy. We put up almost daily with posts of the women Charles masturbates to. Then Paul started in on his sexy librarian kick. And let's not forget Gina Gershon from the other day.

More man candy please!

If we're going to look at mancandy, I nominate the shirtless Clive Owen in Rome pics Jezebel had up sometime in the last few weeks. YUM.

I doubt this person is sincere; they just like the attention they are stirring up (and now a whole post dedicated to their faux outrage). There's no way anyone is stupid enough to really think that Dan Savage has equal culpability for the Iraq War with that of Dick Cheney.

Posted by erika | June 5, 2008 3:25 PM

...unless... you know come to think of it I've never seen Dan Savage and Dick Cheney anywhere together at the same place and time. There can only be one explanation!!

Either that or they just don't hang out that much. Meh...

We were doing a pretty good job of ignoring the troll until an entire slog post was devoted to it.

Sorry you've had so much of your time today wasted - but you can't reason with a troll, and any attempt to do so will only feed it.

I vote for killing the post entirely and letting it die.

You're a pro-war nothing.

"As long as Dan's war on the people of Iraq continues I'll be reminding folks that he helped make all this possible."

Hey Dan, since you have (according to the troll) so much power over time & space, how about doing something simple, say, stop the Mariners from being so crappy, and then work up to world peace & happiness?

@36:

Wow. I see a lot of bitterness and douchenozzlery in your post. A little close to home, was it?

Posted by Wolf | June 5, 2008 6:44 PM

I still don't get why anyone cares what Dan Savage thought about the war ... He's not exactly a geopolitical whiz and his gravitas seems to lie in the deep and important topic areas of whether it's ok for my lover to drip hot candle wax on my scrotum. I mean, it's like being upset if Snoopy from Peanuts decides Doonesbury is too liberal. Who the fuck cares? We're not talking political think tanks here.

AKH, you absolutely should NOT delete Troll's comments.

Beyond the minor annoyance his (?) comments create, it's absolutely right and proper for the stupidity that led to the invasion to be kept alive and kicking. There were some really stupid choices made, and the people who made 'em need to be reminded of them, and often.

Yes Dan, we know you're sorry. But as you were told at the time, and as you've been told often since, this is going to hang around your neck for the rest of your career. As it should.

And anyway, I scroll past boring Slog comments the same way I scroll past boring Slog postings--which is to say, a lot.
