Poe, it is serious.
Any Americans who think that a serious decrease in a free press, an advocacy press, that is so integral to this nation is a good thing is the GOVERNMENT.
Without a watchdog, who is going to hold them accountable and report to the public?
A ragtag band of BLOGGERS?????? Non-trained hacks who are usually sourced by what is left of the collapsing bigger bureaus?
It can't be "oh haaaaahaaaa Newspapers are evil and they are dying off....they're MADE OF PAPER!! haaahaaaa"
when the actual implications to Democracy are so, so great.
How does this work again? Let's see:
1) I remind you that the Stranger calls itself a "newspaper"
2) Brandon threatens me here
OK, waiting...
1) I know The Stranger is a newspaper. For the whateverth time: I'm commiserating, not gloating.
2) I don't think suggesting you to call me at my office (it's 206-323-7101, in case you've forgotten) constitutes a threat.
I called Friday at 2 like I said I would, but was put through to your voice mail.
@12. The only nerve you hit was the one frayed by cowards sniping behind pseudonyms. Think you're a tough guy? Give me a call: 206-323-7101.

All the crap in the cubicles makes it look like the end of the workday, not that a bunch of people have been laid off. Unless my workplace is among a very few that clear people's crap out when they quit or are fired.
I'm all for journalism.
But a huge issue here is the classifieds section and the revenue it no longer brings in, no?
It's kinda hard to demonize autotrader, Craigslist and ebay for all of this.
BTW, how many newspaper readers really cared about the JOURNALISM? Comics, sports, recipes, there are a hundred reasons for most folks to read the paper, and a great man of them aren't involving... citizenship.
I meant to type "a great many." I hope no angry lesbian on an unmuffled motorcycle is mad at me now...
