I’m on vacation and won’t be slogging much this week. Still: What kind of world makes Oscar-winners buy their crack on the street?

What’s next? Dianne Wiest busted for public urination?

They should have become rock stars, then they give it to you for free.

I vote for Judy Dench being arrested after a bar brawl with Shannon Doherty.

Diane Wiest rocks. I think if the tabs caught her having a splash on the sidewalk, she'd just shoot 'em her squinty-eyed grin and give a self-deprecating shrug.

"When the police approached, she asked them, 'You know who I am, right?'", a source reportedly told the New York Post. She went on to say she was doing "research" for an acting role.

I wonder how long she had been waiting to use that one?

there used to be nunneries women could join to finally redeem their lives...that's not an option, really, anymore. just think: a totally apart life, removed from the ugly, confusing world of too many options, a quiet, simple humble life in service to "god" ie: something bigger than yourself. you can see why it might work. fyi, i am an atheist, so i'm not pimping religion here

@5,

I expect to see that among extended scenes in a special DVD version of Hannah and Her Sisters.

Okay, very minor point, but I was actually pleased to see that at least they arrested a dealer at the same time and this wasn't just a police sting/entrapment deal.

Unlike Tinseltown, at least NYC doesn't seem particularly vindictive towards celebs. If she cooperates in the trial of the dealer, they'll probably cut her a bit of slack.
