Basically, he's going to use $18 bn in spending cuts to pay for an additional $300 bn tax cut on top of the $300 or so deficits we're already running, while simultaneously spending EVEN MORE on a godforsaken war that cannot pay any dividends ever, for eternity.

Federal economics are pretty easy to understand, actually, and it doesn't take very long to see that there are really only two priorities that matter very much: ditching the Bush tax cuts, and stopping the war. Do those two things, and only those two things, and we're back in surplus. Do just a tiny bit more, and we can actually afford national health care without much trouble.

But someone needs to stand up and say it. I'm hoping Obama is that somebody. Republican economics are going to destroy this country if pursued for even one more year.
