Seattle Firefighters Endorsements

posted by on June 11 at 10:04 AM

The Seattle Firefighters Union has issued its (usually quite coveted) endorsements in four local and state races. They are:

36th Legislative District: Reuven Carlyle

46th Legislative District: Scott White

King County Superior Court: Bruce Heller

Washington State Attorney General: Rob McKenna (most recently in the news for denying public records to convicted felons).

Because this year’s primary will be a “top-two” primary (the top two candidates move forward to the general election even if, for example, both are Democrats), primary endorsements won’t have much (if any) impact on which candidates make it onto the general election ballot; their main purpose will be to help build momentum for candidates going into November.

These would have so much more impact if photographs of shirtless, hairy-chested firefighters accompanied the press release.

Too bad you're not covering any of the endorsements from the local districts, like say the 43rd Dist Dems ....

Guess you missed their endorsement meeting this past weekend ...

@3: I'd guess the 43rd Democrats endorsed Frank Chopp and Jamie Pedersen. Was I close?

The 34th District Democrats endorsed JOHN LADENBURG for Attorney General, by acclamation.

The IAFF must think it's cool or something to endorse an anti-union Republican partisan like McKenna, but he is not their friend, and he needs to be taken out.

@6 -- I'm sure Seattle Firefighters are grateful you're here to tell them what's in their best interest. How do you feel about four-person staffing or presumptive illnesses?

By the way, the IAFF is not Local 27. The IAFF doesn't make endorsements in statewide or local races.

But thanks for playing SLOG.

(FWIW, You're the first person I've ever heard describe the IAFF as cool.)

Thanks for the post, ECB.

@2 -- Send an email to iaff27.org. You might get lucky.

@4 - no, they endorsed Barack Obama.

Bet you didn't see that one coming ...
