And just so everybody is clear, Shorty's is a cash-only establishment, so unless you want to get jacked by their ATM's exorbitant fees, make sure you already have cash upon arrival.
Also, I will be bringing a copy of Northline by Willy Vlautin which I won at last month's Slog Trivia Night. Very good book, by the way. First person to recognize me without my name tag and asks for it gets it.
I drove around Belltown for 35 minutes and could not find a free parking spot. So my cheap ass went home. Sorry to anybody expecting the games guy at the games bar.
what a lovely LOVELY evening. took mucho photos. paul, you are a sweetheart! your girlfriend is so lucky!
hot tip: Orange Cab number 830 is the best place in seattle to hear Somalian music. the cab driver sings along and would dance along were he not sitting down.
will post pictures in the flickr photo pool in the next couple o' days. i got a short film clip of fnarf dancing, but it's dimly lit and the place was too small for the attendees. amy, can we go to spitfire grill with its outside deck next time, pleeze?

scary, it was nice to meet so many friendly sloggers with my buddy Augie. He smiled his golden boy grin, ate a hot dog snack and made many new friends who gave him pets and praise. Thanks for the photos.
At one point I was sitting at a table with 4 women, with another on my lap. I think they thought I was Paul Constant, but I wasn't going to tell them otherwise.
I liked the room. The music was a little to Old Farty, and they ran out of cheese for the nachos at some point, and their scotch selection was weak, and of course Poe wasn't there, but other than that I was very happy at Shorty's.
Parking was super easy if you rode a motorcycle.
It was great getting to meet some new folks, too- Scary and PopTart and Hernandez and leek and... the guy who told me about the midwestern writer. Both of whose names escape me.
Also, there was a girl there named Beth, who I didn't get to talk to, but was smokin' hot. Is it wrong to be happily married but find other people smokin' hot? Hope not.
...oh and Aislinn and Mo and Fnarf and Will (even) and Jessica and Kyleen and the rest of the gang were great to see after two months in the midwestern wilderness. Of course.
One more nit: more Stranger staffers! Amy Kate is a self-contained party generator, but she can only do so much.

Quarters! I knew there was a reason I didn't empty the coin pocket of my wallet, other than laziness.

Shorty's has a change machine. And some games take bills. Forget your quarters.

The new Indiana Jones pinball machine they have at Shorty's is ahhhhmazing.
Indiana Jones pinball machine? Really, really? Oooo I'm so excited! Hot dogs...booze...pinball...
Happy, happy, joy, joy
I hoard quarters for the washing machine.

A lovely time was had by me. Too crowded and too loud but terrific fun nonetheless.
I agree, next time on a deck or patio somewhere. Or Northgate, that ought to take care of the "too crowded" part.
