again, paul, part of "being a man" is to appreciate heels. if women want to wear shoes that lengthen their legs & lift their buttocks up & out, go with it.

Pointy shoes are fine by me! I'm not necessarily "into" feet, at least I don't think I am, but I kinda like women with big feet. Or at least normal sized feet. Tiny, tiny diminutive feet, or feet small enough to hide under pants (the look that's usually accompanied by that shuffly, helpless walk) - big turnoff for me.

@9 I am pained, pained I tell you to say this but Max Solomon is right about the "point" of pointy shoes. Well, not necessarily the pointiness but the high heels.

Those of us that can wear them well wear them because they can sex an outfit right up. Those who wear them, but don't wear them well do a disservice to us all. Plus I can put someone's eye out with my 5 inch stiletto heel if I have to.

Oh crap, my inner feminist is coming out. No, high heels are wrong, they are designed by men to objectify women, they subjugate us by preventing us from moving freely. Excuse me, I have to go smother her in my shoe closet.

Isn't he referring to the pointiness of the toe? There's nothing inherently sexy about that. Many high heels have normal rounded toes, thank heavens.

@18 Well, never mind what I said then, I thought you meant the whole high heels being sexy thing.

I have mixed feelings about pointy toes, especially because of that whole toe cleavage thing which I think just looks weird.

p.s. I am indescribably jealous of your haul from the bookseller's convention and if you need any help finding readers for any of them I would gladly walk uphill both ways in my 5-inchers to help you out.

I read the rather unique name in #14 and thought, "No, it can't be...", but sure enough, I went to high school with the lovely Ms Clintock.

She was smart--brilliant, even--with a biting wit, a great sense of humor, and a totally cute space between her two front teeth. She played the flute, loved quad shot lattes any hour of the day, and could probably throw down on a u-substitution like nobody's business.

Naturally, I had a crush on her. Alas, she was a senior and I was a freshman with a squeaky voice. I don't know how sincere she was, but she told me to drop her a line when I graduated high school.

I never did.
