Don't take it for granted that the Gov. is a shoe in. Hubris loses elections and wars. Work for her and vote for her. We simply can't risk getting Rossi. He's a fascist's fascist.

My understanding is that any incumbent who is polling under 50% is potentially in trouble, regardless of their lead.

What is encouraging is that the party with more identified members (based on the available measures, since we don't have voter registration) also has the highest support for its candidate, so if those numbers hold Gregoire will win. The wildcard appears to be the younger voters who don't have a clue. I suspect they'll either not vote or vote for Obama and choose Gregoire downticket based on their enthusiasm for him.

Gregoire won't blow him away. But she will win comfortably. A lot of AAs skipped the governor selection in the last election, because there was the controversy about her role in the UW sorority that was racist at the time. She has sinced convinced AAs that she is an ally, and even though this isn't a huge percentage of WA's pop, it is more than enough to give her another win.

Never underestimate the Angry White Dumbshit vote: They are in cubicles across the state, toiling away at somewhat menial, usually IT-related jobs, vaguely angry that they aren't "doing as well as Dad", and convinced that Dino had the election stolen from him, just as sure as they lost that supervisor position to the guy from India because he's "black" (yes, I know that's a horrible run-on sentence. I can't afford an editor)

They're out there. And they look just like everybody else. Add to that the women who hate other women, and you have a voting bloc.

"Perhaps less predictably, 35 percent of voters under 35 did not know whom they planned to vote for."

Erica, I think the lack of awareness or even voting among younger Americans is actually pretty predictable. The younger you are, the less complexities you have in your life. Having kids, buying a home, trying to find a fulfilling and well paying job all have a way of making you pay attention. How many young people do you know who basically go to work and then hang out in bars most nights? That's what I did for a while and it was fun, but it wasn't a period of great enlightenment.
