Only in-so-far as politically feasible. I have heard everyone sighing over the dream-team coupling of Obama/Richardson, or locally, Obama/Patty Murray, but the reality is that he will probably have to choose a fairly conservative representative of the blue-collar workers he doesn't poll so well with. Politicos eschew pragmatism at their own peril and like it or not Obama will choose a running mate who won't make the independents and middle-of-the-roaders run for his opponent.

Yeah, I actually agree with PC. The campaign is over. She's basically doing the right thing by trying to bring her supporters back into the party fold. There's no reason to mock now, unless of course you're going to mock the whole Democratic party from the sidelines, which is ok by me. But enough of the kneejerk anti-Clinton shit. It's over. If you support Obama, support Clinton's efforts to rebridge the gap.

Hillary's not talking to us, she's talking to her rabid kook supporters, trying to tell them in the nicest way possible that she accepts her loss and they should too -- and get behind the best damn presidential candidate in our lifetimes.

You can think that if it pleases you, Donolectic, but letting bygones be bygones with a white supremacist serial liar like unPC is a mistake. Accepting that portion of Hillary's base is a mistake. These people were never likely to turn out for a Democrat until they were motivated by their racism.

You'll see. Obama is going to have to embarrassingly disown these people further down the road if he lets them get too close to him now.

Mark my words.

(My own bid for the Vice Presidency might be a long shot, but at least it's honest.)

Got a good email from Jay Inslee entusiastically endorsing Obama (I'm in his district and he WAS a superdelagate for Hillary until today). I won't paste it up here, it's pretty long, but the tone is very positive and aimed at moving forwards with everyone on the same page ("pulling the same rope" as he says).

It also speaks directly to disgruntled Clinton supporters and urges them to get on board the O-Train. It's clear Hillary and her supporters are ready to bury the hatchet, so I say we bury it and whip the old white dude's ass in November.
