2. Never point a gun at a person.
3. Never point a gun as something you don't want to destroy.
4. Always know what's behind the thing you're going to destroy, so you don't destroy something precious by mistake.

I don't think they actually used the word "precious".

Handgun safety? Oxymoron? Just owning a gun increases your chances of being murdered 100 fold.

That said, all of the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights apply to stupid people, too.

Be it pit bulls, or hetero/homo parenting, or gun policy, he thinks that throwing out the Perfect Anecdote is a form of civics dialog.

Guns. Ugh.

This is why I'm uncomfortable around guns. Because people are morons. Especially gun owners.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office Cpl. Mark Raiche was heading to a call early Sunday morning. As he crested the top of a hill on a rural four-lane road, he saw headlights coming at him.



"I took the last minute to swerve to the right and miss a head-on collision and my car started to overturn," Raiche recalled.



Later, he heard more details. Raiche had rolled four times. He had to be extracted from his patrol car. He was hanging upside down, suspended only by his seat belt, and his engine compartment had caught fire by the time help arrived. He had suffered the worst injuries he'd ever seen on the job. He has a tear in his liver and head and back injuries.



An alleged drunken driver had been traveling in the wrong direction on State Road 85 south of Crestview. As Raiche moved to avoid the SUV and his car began to flip out of control, the other driver didn't stop, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.



The driver was 33-year-old Scott Allen Brace, a lieutenant with the Ocean City-Wright Fire Department. He was arrested at his home and charged with DUI and leaving the scene of a crash with injury.

Jesus.

The Black Panther Party for Self-Defense was a strong advocate of the Second Amendment, and they used their Second Amendment rights to defend themselves from a racist government that went to extreme lengths to deny African Americans their basic civil rights. It may be argued that firearms were not the most effective tool for that task, or that the Panthers took more harm than good from their use of firearms, but the fact remains that the Panthers used firearms exactly the way the Second Amendment intended. That choice was available to them and they, as free citizens, exercised their rights in that way.

Of course there was also MOVE which, while I wouldn't put them in the same category with the Panthers, did expose a heinous recklessness and disregard for human life and the property rights of African Americans on the part of the Philadelphia Police Department.

Just, you know, since nobody else seems to be bringing it up.

Totally, because the statistics show 99% of guns are used to shoot rapists skulking up the stairs towards your sleeping wife.

The other 1% of guns are used to overthrow corrupt governments (little known fact: handguns can easily blow up tanks and aircraft carriers).
