1)uh, Jen, we're not 12. There's a difference between making fun of a dick in a certain context and exposed genitalia on a piece of art. Jeesh.

2)This would make more sense in the Capitol Hill rail station than those stupid jets.

3)StrangerDanger is a size queen. There's nothing wrong with the size of the genitals in question. Seems pretty average, for being in a flaccid state. And, I'm an experienced appraiser.

Is it Cain? Is it Abel? If it's Cain is it pre murder? Is it Abel because he's standing on foliage? Is it Cain symbolizing the death of Abel by standing on the foliage? Either way pine boughs are a weird choice since Abel was a farmer...maybe he couldn't find plastic wheat.

Well, it isn't Michelangelo's David, that's for sure.

His head looks like a Neanderthal, his torso is too long (or his arms & legs too short; whatever, the proportions are fucked), he's bow-legged and sporting a paunch. The artist managed to add bed-head hair to his head, but left the rest of him bald as a 9-year-old.

This statue is disturbing, regardless of wang or biblical references.

Maybe it's one of those perspective things where the artist wants you to get really close to the hands to view the entire sculpture. Sort of like "Davids" really big head.

There is absolutely no iconography that would indicate that this is the Biblical Cain: As a post-lapsarian he should be clothed, he appears to be circumcised and circumcision was covenated much later, and there is no mark upon his brow. It would seem that he is just a guy named Cain.

Doug's sculptures are typically all wrong on purpose--he's made lots of ceramics where each limb or body part is of different scale or obviously from a different figure. Haven't seen this in person yet but I'm thinking he's doing that but without showing as many of the seams (except at the wrists.)
