Comment of the Day

posted by on June 5 at 14:48 PM

For the most part I try to be sunshine and light on Slog and even when I try to piss people off it usually goes horribly wrong and I end up getting agreed with. So, obviously I’m a rank amateur among all you seasoned pros.

But, Will [in Seattle], for once I have to say, please stuff it. The fact that I have to constantly hear about the FUN! ACTION PACKED! EVENT FILLED! life you have makes me contemplate my own DULL! BORING! SUCKY! life and makes me wonder where the fuck I went wrong. Which in turn makes me contemplate driving a screwdriver through my brain.

AND, you still owe me a piece of pie.

Sorry, I never saw that.

Don't you guys do six impossible things before brunch too?

Yeah, PopTart. He is connected to everyone and everything. Hey, check this out.

It's still true. My bro's online too, but he's a gay McCain supporter ... don't get me started on the irony of my gay liberal brother in NYC being a lawyer who thinks McCain and the GOP are great ...

Look, it's a curse. I used to fight it, but just gave up trying.

Will, if it wasn't abundantly clear, you're obnoxious as fuck.

I doubt this post was meant an invitation to post a zillion more times.

Will, what I want to know is if you have an off-speed pitch (no doubt your fastball is gun befuddling), and when your uncle (and bocce partner) Chuck Armstrong will get you onto the diamond.

Pardon @12?

I never was that good at fastball, or bocce ball. I have played on softball teams, and soccer and volleyball teams. Not professionally, just the usual local fun teams.

Not a very good base runner or hitter, either, but when I connect I can usually get a base or two.

This thread is waaaaaay too meta for my taste...back to more postings on how Savage is personally responsible for the death of billions of people all over the galaxy.

That's some good readin'....

I hear that Dan is really the Sith Apprentice.

Or he wore some devil horns once.

Dang, can't remember which.

I know! Let's just invade Iceland and call it even!

At my caucus in February, I gave a speech in order to get elected as a precinct delegate. A fellow delegate said afterwards, "Great speech! By the way, are you 'Will in Seattle'?" Annoyed, I informed her that I was not, adding, "'Will in Seattle' is not gay."

Then when I went to the all-43rd caucus a couple of months later, a Will who *has* to have been Will in Seattle was introduced. I looked around for my fellow delegate to show her that I did not resemble THAT Will in the slightest, but I could not find her anywhere. (To his credit, THAT Will helped get things back on track a couple of times.)

The world truly does revolve around THAT Will, folks. And if your name is Will, it's hard to escape his orbit. Even the gay thing barely works as a way to gain distance from him, since (as we now know) Will's brother is gay, and he himself doesn't exactly come across as George Clooney, if you know what I mean, but rather as a confused, less cuddly version of Paul Constant.

I thought Will in Seattle was gay for awhile, until a couple weeks after I met him Aislinn told me I was on crack. I think I was confusing him with Homo Will.

It happens.

I've said it before. Will in Seattle looks like Lewis Black. On prozac.

Kristin Wiig's character Penelope (SNL) is actually based on Will.

I'm not sure whether to be flattered or insulted that my little tirade was designated the comment of the day. Gee, thanks, I guess?

Does anyone else find it hilarious that Will in Seattle posted 5 times on this thread? I'm assuming that means that I failed, once again, to piss someone off.

I'm just disappointed that my stalker hasn't found a way to work me into this conversation yet.

I know we loooooooove to hate on Will in Seattle around here, but does no one notice or care that it is in no way Will's responsibility to make PopTart feel good about herself, and that consideration of her low self-esteem is one of the few reasons he should feel no need to "stuff it"?

I liked meeting you in person, PopTart, and I think you're a nice lady, but your woe-is-me response when anyone mentions something about their lives not being pathetic makes me think that perhaps you could benefit from a therapist. I thought those comments were a joke until you mentioned actually
crying when you posted that a thread made you cry, and now when you make comments like this it makes me uncomfortable to read them. I worry that you're actually at home thinking you don't measure up just because Will is going to a movie that you could easily go to yourself.

This post is a train wreck. I adore the Fnarf vs. Will in Seattle "fights", and I am definitely on Fnarf's side.

PopTart, no point in trying to piss someone off on the Slog if it's not in your nature. I understand the allure of the flame war in our little community, but you must leave that to those who are predisposed to it (see: Will in Seattle vs. Fnarf). Take it from me: the one time I seriously attempted to provoke a fellow Slogger it just didn't happen, because folks like us just aren't wired to tear someone a new asshole on teh internets.

Aislinn, I know you think you were trying to be nice and concerned but I found what you wrote to be bitchy and condescending. You are wrong about me but I can't stop you from believing what you want to believe.

What I wrote was a joke, I'm sorry if it came across to you as otherwise. Your post has taught me that I should leave the sarcasm and insults to others. If I decide to continue to post on Slog I'll be more careful of what I write.

@17 - yup, that's me. Not a professional athlete (hah, I wish), just someone who just happens to be at the right places at the right times. The 43rd LD Caucus and 7th CD Caucus were fun.

Hey, Aislinn isn't just the image of a gal with a good heart, she is a gal with a good heart. Just ask her bf.

There is a world of difference between being a guy at the center of things in Seattle and being a guy with infinite time on his hands who shows up at every single thing that is open to the general public. There is a difference between knowing important people and having shaken hands with them at a public availability. There's a difference between saying something that matters on the Slog, and systematically posting to every single thread whether you have something to contribute or not.

e@37-

Ouch. But the great/tragic thing about Will in Seattle is that he'll just ignore or discount your post.

Posted by Big Sven | June 6, 2008 10:49 AM

Sven, I know it might sound cruel to be saying it, but there's a point where Will's lies start to cause damage. It's amusing and harmless at first, but that only goes so far.

It's one thing for him to make up factoids about what kind of cars they sell in Europe, but when he spins half-true tales about local politics and events and the people involved, it becomes necessary to say something.

It's not that everything he says is a lie. It's just that if Will has told you what went down at some meeting of the 43rd D's or at Siff last night or whatever, it needs to be understood that virtually anything he said about it could be false, and now you're stuck trying to fact check every single thing he said.

@40: I hope so. Will is pathetic and ridiculous, PopTart is completely insecure and Aislinn is the definition of bitchy and condescending. Just read their posts.
