I wonder how old I'll be when I'm finally allowed to get married? I'm 26 now. Will I ever see that day?

That's exactly how I feel about the 2008 Presidential election.

No matter who "wins," we're gonna get what we deserve, right?

If the same pattern holds for gay marriage, then gays should be able to get married anywhere in the country some time around 2028.

So Eli and Justin, you're young enough. You'll likely still be around, and will likely be able to get legally married sometime in your lifetime.

Sadly, I'm in my late 40s. I've been with my partner for over 20 years. At this rate, if we're lucky, we'll be allowed to get married sometime after we retire. We may or may not live long enough. Statistically, we've got roughly a 50/50 chance.

I agree that the process is moving at a glacial pace, and it seems inevitable that it will take years or decades for full marriage equality nation-wide. But I'd really like to see the pace quicken a bit. Please.

I suppose that would seem like a long time when you can count your age and still have plenty of fingers and toes left over.

Good not to obsess about it, though. There's more to life than politics.

The Republicans have been ass-raping those mouth-breathing, tongue-talking, face-biting, snake-handling troglodites for nearly three decades, and they're squealing for more! John McBush will finish them off either by sending them all off to die in new wars, giving them all 400% interest only home equity loans for Great Depression-Dustbowl 2, or gittin' 'em nuked. Or all of the above!

Strangely enough, we gayz have made far more progess legally and socially over the last eight otherwise disastrous Bush years, than ever before.

Honestly though your bitterness is going to ruin what is left of you.

If you check into anything you have ever written and look at it through the eyes of a casual reader, you might find yourself wondering: "who exactly is this guy mad at?" "where does this hate come from that he is projecting on even the most innocent of subjects (i.e. Jean Ennerson)?"

It's painfully obvious that you have a bone to pick with somebody...or yourself.

Either way, it's pathetic.

It will be a big thing in Cali for a few years, until we get at least ten states that have gay marriage in the USA, and then it will be nothing much in Cali.

Eventually, we'll all just move on and not really care, quite frankly.

And that, is, when you think about it, a Good Thing.
