My sister-in-law once worked for an ad agency that represented one of the smaller national burger chains; the first campaign she worked on for them was for a newly-launched burger. When she was told that her "100% real beef" ad was a no-go, she was stunned to be told that her follow-up idea using the phrase "real meat" or "100% real meat" was also a no-go because, well, the burgers weren't.

It's not so much a bold claim as a best defnse is a good offense type strategy, because they fear people supsect them of.. see @18.

I forget it was McDonalds, I think it was them, I saw somebody advertising about ten years ago that they were using Real Cheese and my first, gut reaction is, my gawd, they've found a way to make a plastic cheese food but copyright a name that makes you think they're not using a plastic cheese food.
