NW New Works at On the Boards
Two weekends of performances by 16 companies from Seattle, Vancouver, and Portland—typically, one-third of the work is execrable, one-third is middling, and one-third is the best thing you've ever seen. Arguing about which shows fall into which category is half the fun. Performing this weekend: Hooliganship (music and animation with 3-D glasses), LAUNCH (dance with text by Rebecca Brown), "Awesome" (an instrumental about a forest fire), Waxie Moon ("boylesque"), an audio-guided walking tour of Queen Anne (a series of anonymous, site-specific confessions), and more. (On the Boards, 100 W Roy St, 217-9888. 5 and 8 pm, $14–$30. Also Sat May 17.)

I think there was a problem with the retarded repellants....
They are that new bozo band from bath, near slurry old england way.
I heard about this band that may be on the rise... THE DEAS"...Daddies Enviornemental Assasins.....
There suppose to have a hot one on the 4th of July in today's NASCAR HEROES Section of The SEATTLE TIMES inside of Langley on June 1st.
the real clue is May 24th/25th.
So Kiley, what's YOUR opinion of what sucked and what didn't at NWNW?
I thought that all of the dance pieces were terrible. What is it about dance? I've seen some really great things at OtB, even some great dance pieces. (Crystal Pite's piece with the aliens was outstanding, for example.) But the ratio of good to crappy seems worse with dance than with other art forms. Any idea why?
I saw this on Saturday, and we actually walked out at intermission. It's not that it was terrible per se, but I just wasn't expecting a dance show. With "Awesome" on the roster I thought there would be a little more rocking out.
