Three cheers for the Bobby Kennedy gaffe!

Now Obama doesn't have to pretend that she was even considered for the VP slot - it's going to be Chuck Hagel...mark my words...

One thing the P-I didn't steal was getting the roller derby logo story wrong. The quotes over there say that Rat City and Starbucks are amicably trying to work together:

Starbucks spokeswoman Stacey Krum said, "There's a lot of room for us to work together to find a mutually beneficial conclusion here."[...] [Rollergirl] Schmitz said "It's kind of a shame that it's come to this. I definitely feel that we can work something out in everybody's best interest."[...] In fact, both sides have stressed that they want to collaborate and not make adversaries of each other.

"Back at the Los Angeles lot, Fernandez says he thinks the trend away from SUVs and pickups is here to stay."

it took $4 a gal gas prices to finally get americans driving on perfectly paved suburban roads to give up off-road 4 wheel drive.

The funny thing in that article is at the end, where they explain that most of these people are making really stupid economic decisions, selling off their SUVs, which they owe $22,000 on, but which are only worth $12,000 on the used market, in order to save a few dollars on gas. High-larious!

But some auto experts caution owners against trading in their SUVs and trucks to save money at the pump because it may not be the wisest financial decision. [...] Owners might owe $20,000 or more when the vehicle is now worth $12,000. It's similar to an upside-down mortgage, and it may not make sense to try a trade-in.
I don't think the article says they know of people making that mistake, Fnarf. They just quote experts saying not to do it, in case that's what you were thinking of.

This one I like because while the guy with the new Ninja 250 motorcycle will probably pay less for gas (50+ mpg easy), I don't believe he is old car was getting 4 mpg. I wonder if the NYT sanity checks the numbers they print.

You'd be surprised what a big-engined beater in need of a tuneup, with four flat tires (the way most people drive) can stoop to.

@6 yes the rest of the country is so much dumber than us. Kind of a burden, isn't it? We must soldier on educating and mocking, as the whim strikes us, though.

Meanwhile, realclear poll averages:
General: Obama 46, McCain 46.

Not so great.

General: Clinton 48, McCain 44

Hmm and that's with folks knowing she aint a gonna win the nomination.
Could this "mean" anything?

Naaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh--unity unity rah rah rah whatver.
