Obama: takes lead in superdelegates.

Obama: down by 36 in WV, 27 in Ky.

from real clear: "Suffolk is out with a new poll in West Virginia (May 10-11) showing Clinton with a 36-point lead:
Clinton 60
Obama 24
Undecided 8
And Research 2000 has new numbers in Kentucky (May 7-9), where Clinton also enjoys a substantial 27-point lead over Obama:
Clinton 58
Obama 31
Undecided 11."

Oh well guess we will have a 48 state strategy and the electoral map expansion does not reach to Ky or WV.

Oh just for old times' sake how's presumptive Democratic nominee Obama doing compared to presumptive loser Clinton in head to heads against McCain??

From realclear:

National Obama +4.2 Clinton +5.1

Wow, Obama's the clear winner yet gets no winner's bounce.

Pennsylvania Obama +5.0 Clinton +10.0

Good, Obama pulling ahead, obviously Clinton would help if VP.

IT's only 21 electoral college votes.

Ohio McCain +3.4 Clinton +5.4

Gosh darn it, Obama still losing despite donning vicor's laurels ......obviously HRC would help if VP as she's more popular than McCain in the buckeye state.
It's only waht, 20 electoral college votes??

Florida McCain +9.0 Clinton +1.7

Wow again, OBama so far behind almost hopeless. Hilldawg sure could though.

Wisconsin Obama +1.6 McCain +3.4
Yup Obama continues to lead in states with a high lutheran scandinavian presence ....WI MN WA etc. Or call it absence of Bunkers and Dogpatchers. Something about tidy upper midwest farmers liking Obama....maybe Jane Smiley can explain it?

Anyhoo ya sure you betcha kind of amazing how he's the clear nominee yet is not getting that huge bandwagon, winner's bounce ...oh well, if no go in Ky WV um AR now FL and OH....maybe it's a 45 state strategy??

Saturday morning KUOW mentioned that a UW study showed that highway traffic in Washington is down in 2008 from 2006, even though population and jobs are greater. I wish I could find a link.

Anyway, as always, IMHO it's important to note the effect of higher gas prices: less driving and more hunger for transit alternatives. If everyone is going to drive less as prices rise, we hardly need more lane-miles. And the days of cheap gas are gone for good; anybody who says otherwise works for Forbes or the National Review.

Comment by Fucking Nanny State

Those HOT lanes are a great revenue-generating gimmick on the part of the DOT; a new excuse for ticketing confused drivers and making everyone's lives on the roads even more miserable. I like the part about the transponder just invisibly assessing you fees when you violate, like a bank tacking random charges on your monthly statement.

I drove on 167 to get to my mother's house for the holiday yesterday. I honestly could not figure out how the HOT lanes work. Do I need a transponder to get in the lanes at all, or am I OK as a carpool? The signage is no help at all. The only clear message was "don't cross the double white lines." I get that, and could figure out that there were occasional entry and exit points. The price of the lanes was also clear--50 cents in the morning and no fee "open to all vehicles" on the way back last night. But is that all vehicles really, or only all vehicles that have the transponder?
