You forgot to mention that the lovely Jenna Bush will wed her long time boyfriend Henry Hagar in Crawford, Texas today. I’m sure the Stranger staff and us sloggers wish them a lifetime of happiness as they take vows on the holy covenant of their matrimony, witnessed by family and friends, and blessed by clergy in a charming outdoor wedding on the Texas prairie today, surrounded by glorious wildflowers.

KUOW said this morning that Washington driving is down in 2008 from 2006 even though jobs and population increased. And other polls (Gallup, AP-Ipsos) show that everyone is driving less across the country. Prices will rise more over the summer and the demand for driving alternatives will reach a fever pitch.

Therefore, common sense dictates that...

...Need I even say it? No roads on the ballot in November. Just a fat, fat, fat transit package.

Comment by Cascadian

@2 The name for Burma/Myanmar is a lot more complicated than you suggest. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_of_Burma for an overview.

The name of the country in the local language never changed. The military dictatorship changed the English name of the country only. The democratic parliament (never seated in 1990) and the current democratic opposition both prefer "Burma."

Comment by citizen cane

The city of seattle (mayor, attorneys, judges police) illegally took hundreds of thousands of dollars from citizens in improper parking fines now they got caught and got sued and are returning some of it. Plus now they have to pay lawyers fees for losing the case. Lots of taxpayer $$$ for that.

Why isn't any public official held accountable for this massive governmental lawbreaking? No one is getting fired and no one is even identified as being responsible.

Why not?

Because Myanmar was named as such by the junta. The resistance prefers to go by it's original name of Burma. Perhaps Unpaid Intern is a freedom fighter for Burma?

And they renamed Rangoon into Yangon. Crab Yangon just doesn't sound right...
