Charles, could you provide links with the photos that you post? Seems like this would be polite to the photographers, and would let curious people like me get more info about where they're taken, etc.

I know you're trying to be all arty and mysterious, but even angel toes must occasionally tap the dirt.

a little demystification:

the statue is called "Motherland" (as suggested by the image name), and is located at the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, in Kiev, Ukraine. The same image appears on the Wikipedia entry for the museum.

Apparently, this statue faces Russia as a gentle reminder that they would prefer not to be invaded again, thank you very much. I like it. Has anyone seen the Wallace Monument in Stirling, Scotland? Same idea, but not quite so gladiatorial.
