Does that have anything to do with his enormous head?
Very sad news. That's a horrible way to go down.
I hate to bring this up, but how long until some idiot TV preacher blames the tumor on Kennedy's liberal political record, or Massachusetts' gay marriage law, or something of the like?
When will the vultures start circling?
With any luck, he will live to see a significant democratic majority in both houses of congress and Obama in the White House. Then he can retire with grace and a nice send off.
Great politician but a lousy date... (Chappaquiddick comes to mind)
I told him not to follow the Drudge links on the SLOG ... but did he listen?
This is why linking Drudge is bad - it causes brain cancer.
Well, first off: Best wishes for aggressive treatment and complete recovery.
BUT: In the meantime....
SENATOR BARNEY FUCKIN' FRANK!!!!
Very sad to hear, but at least he's going from natural causes, unlike his brothers.
@ Napoleon -- TOTALLY.
Of course, he'd give up a lot of seniority, which might mean he wouldn't take it.
Conspiracy Theory 9,527,321:
Hillary sneaks into the Kennedy Compound and implants tumour causing bacteria into the brain of America's distaff Kennedy brother in retaliation for not supporting her presidential bid.
uh, and she had something to do with Chappaquidick, too...
@9, actually the secretary who died at Chappaquidick slept with Bill Clinton and Ted was just getting rid of the evidence....
People who want to blame every single thing on Clinton,
Really? What the fuck is wrong with you? Get over it.
A big eventual loss for the senate.
Barney Frank is from my old district. They will keep electing him no matter what. However the rest of the state is not as loyal, 46 years of Kennedy notwithstanding. Barney is likely better off staying as a permanent fixture with seniority in the house.
As usual, the trying-to-be-funny Chappaquidick jokes are lame. If you want to hear tasteless jokes, I'm sure you can hear them on Rush Limbough's show or Fox news.
Ladies and gentlemen, we finally have our exit-strategy from the race for Clinton: she can be the new Liberal Lioness of the Senate and serve far longer than 8 years, and get a whole lot more done.
Has anyone tracked Lieberman's movements over the past few months?
He might have slipped some cancer-causing additives into Kennedy's beer ...
Strangeways @9 was definitely being sarcastic.
Hillary will run as an independent: She will pull a Lieberman.

People will probably stop blaming her when she stops blaming everyone else for her failure to secure the nomination. Arrogance, bad planning, bad staff, and a lot of people just not liking or trusting her has more to do with it than sexism.
My late partner's father was diagnosed in April 2005 with malignant glioma, and even with radiation and treatment with an oral chemo called Temodar he lived just over two months after diagnosis. When he died, he was found to also have lung and liver metasteses.
The sad news is he was a great guy, and now he's gone. The only bright spot is he didn't linger and suffer for months or years.
Holy crap! I've been unpacking all day and just saw this news. Dreadful.
This is very sad and I don't want to come off as a dick but I hope we can bring in a senator who supports wind power over his own view of the ocean.
