Fnarf: Be on my team? Pretty please?

I'm only good with movie trivia. But I'm on Aislinn's team.

I know, scoring Fnarf is a longshot...

So, our team is me, w7ngman, and Poe: Anyone else want in? Two more spots!

So not going to be there...

I will not make fishball joke.
I will not make fishball joke.
I will not make fishball joke.

WHAT?!?!? No Naked Twister?!?!?

Everyone wants to be on Aislinn's team ...

One wonders what the questions will be.

My fave would be "how many times has the monorail been on SLOG", followed by "what is SLOG's favorite color".

Fnarf isn't going to show up because Will in Seattle will be there.

Original Monique: YOU ARE MINE!

Damn it, damn it. Aislinn, I would love to be on your team, I rock trivia, but I have to be at the Theo Chocolates place for their Mother's Day evening until 8. (I will be serving tea, if anyone has moms.) The one day I don't want to be in a chocolate factory with massages...

Amy Kate Horn, you deserve a medal.

Posted by Greg | May 1, 2008 12:25 PM

Also, I'm pretty decent at science and math trivia, useless though it may be for this competition.

Posted by Greg | May 1, 2008 12:26 PM

Hope you can come!

heh-heh-heh...Amy Kate hopes I can come...heh-heh-heh-heh...

I have texts out to Bellevue Ave and his gf, but seeing as they never show up before 8, I'm guessing they won't make it in time for trivia. So, unless they respond in the affirmative, I'm calling Scary Tyler Moore and Greg, and considering this team closed.

Posted by Aislinn | May 1, 2008 12:34 PM
15

Will people still be around past 8? I'd love to show up once my obligations are over.

Posted by Abby | May 1, 2008 12:38 PM
16

Sure, Abby. But we'll all be legitimately drunk by that point. So you'll want to bring some shooters with you to pound in the car on your way.

Posted by Mr. Poe | May 1, 2008 12:39 PM
17

Abby, as long as they don't kick us out like last time, we'll totally still be there at 8. I'm sad that you're missing trivia :(

And Greg, that was presumptuous of me: you can, of course, opt to be on another team. That would be a mistake, but it's your choice to make.

Posted by Aislinn | May 1, 2008 12:41 PM
18

Is there going to be a theme to the trivia questions?

Posted by w7ngman | May 1, 2008 12:48 PM
19

Free will! Awesome. In that case, I choose to join your team.

Posted by Greg | May 1, 2008 12:49 PM
20

And @15: Abby, we'll stick around, but only if you bring tea samples.

Posted by Greg | May 1, 2008 12:54 PM
21

Slog elitists vs. everyone else.

Posted by Mr. Poe | May 1, 2008 1:03 PM
22

Hm, I carry a veritable cornucopie o' useless information in my wetware, but not sure how much that will help in the rarified world of SLOG trivia.

Maybe I'll just be the drunk guy egging everyone else on.

And seriously, I am NOT going to AGAIN pay $15 for an order of fish-and-chips, sorry Mr. Fish Fry Guy.

Maybe I'll just sneak something in from Ballet instead.

Posted by COMTE | May 1, 2008 1:11 PM
23

Aislinn, we totally got there early last time!

Posted by Mikki | May 1, 2008 1:16 PM
24

Well, Poe, since I don't have a car (and therefore won't be the one driving) that's an excellent idea. I'm sad I'm missing trivia too. :( I enjoy useless information. And it's the day before my birthday, so I would get to say "woo! It's almost my birthday!" a lot.

Greg- I will totally bring tea samples. I should just show up to Slog events with loads of tea samples each time, I have access to enough of it...

Posted by Abby | May 1, 2008 1:17 PM
25

Comte, you should be on mine and jessica's team. Trust me, we will rock it out. =)

My apologies for being overzealous; trivia gets me excited. Since Bellevue Ave and Mikki will be there in time, and I asked them first (well, I asked Poe very first, then Fnarf), I can't have Scary Tyler Moore or Greg. If either of you end up being on other teams that beat mine, well... I'll cry.

Posted by Aislinn | May 1, 2008 1:25 PM
27

Nuts.

Posted by Greg | May 1, 2008 1:52 PM
28

Even when I lose I win. This is going to be awesome.

Posted by Mr. Poe | May 1, 2008 1:57 PM
29

Rather than be on a team with my girlfriend and the three Sloggers I know best, I'm thinking I'd rather be on a team with people I don't really know or would like to know better.

I pretty much bomb trivia, unless they happen to ask questions about computer programming, math, or general science, but in my defense I did pretty much nail the section about Jerry Seinfeld's girlfriends at fado a few weeks ago.

Any takers?

Two things: Moe Bar has promised not to kick us out at 8 pm this time. And, there will be time to form teams before we start the game, so the rest of you less-loquacious people, including members of our precious silent majority, will be included. That should be a new name tag: "Precious Silent"

Posted by Amy Kate Horn | May 1, 2008 2:04 PM
31

Also: The trivia will cover things you've read about on Slog.

Posted by Amy Kate Horn | May 1, 2008 2:06 PM
32

The trivia is on Slog? Oh. I'm not worried at all now.

Posted by Mr. Poe | May 1, 2008 2:10 PM
33

If there is trivia on this year's Eurovision while I'm off with the chocolate, I will be totally pissed.

Posted by Abby | May 1, 2008 2:11 PM
34

So does this mean we get Greg after all?

Posted by Mikki | May 1, 2008 2:19 PM
35

do we get to win those shirts if we win?

Posted by Bellevue Ave | May 1, 2008 2:29 PM
36

Sounds too much like high school for my taste.

@34: Guess so! If he doesn't mind being jerked around :)

Posted by Aislinn | May 1, 2008 3:09 PM
38

Or we could hold auditions starting at 6:00.

Posted by Mikki | May 1, 2008 3:18 PM
39

Oh. So trivia and fish, but no Champagne fountain?

I see.

That's fine. My manequins and I will have a fun night without you. It's time for their spring outfit change anyway, and besides, I just got a Sophie Tucker Album that I want to listen to.

Have fun with your trivia. and fish.

Posted by Catalina Vel-DuRay | May 1, 2008 3:27 PM

@39: I feel your pain. Everything is better with a champagne fountain. However, I will show up anyway and then proceed to let my truly heroic store of useless trivia shine.

Posted by Jessica | May 1, 2008 3:33 PM
41

@25:

Okay, count me in.

But, I will still be drunk - and fishless.

And I'm horrible with sports questions. Fortunately, sports doesn't come up much on SLOG.

Posted by COMTE | May 1, 2008 4:04 PM
42

@37: Unfortunately, I cannot answer that without making a lewd joke. Really; I tried.

Posted by Greg | May 1, 2008 4:25 PM
43

We demand Fnarf. Compulsivaris Insightfulian must be on the same team as Compulsivaris Framiliaris.

Fuck man! Best Slog Night ever, and I'm in MN. There is no god. Or there is, and she hates me.

Posted by Big Sven | May 1, 2008 4:35 PM
45

If I get to go I won't stay long, since my wife would rather stay home and be all pregnant and stuff than drive me there and watch me drink. Yeah, I know. I could take the bus but I heard that sucks and you might have to sit next to a drunk.

Posted by elenchos | May 1, 2008 4:42 PM
46

Elenchos, invite your wife in and find her a comfy seat and a cup of tea for fuck's sake! Might be good to have a sober brain on your trivia team.

Posted by Amy Kate | May 1, 2008 5:22 PM
47

I'll try to make it, but if I do and elenchos isn't there and on my trivia team I will be very cross.

Posted by tsm | May 1, 2008 6:08 PM
48

Want to be on my team, tsm?

Posted by w7ngman | May 1, 2008 6:17 PM
49

OK, I'll try. But maybe I'll hold my attendance hostage to Fnarf and infrequent showing up. How's them apples?

Posted by elenchos | May 1, 2008 6:17 PM

Works for me, w7ngman.

Just getting back from Ohio this weekend - so I haven't Slogged for a while. Sure have missed whatever shit has been slung about Obama and his choice of pastors? Does anyone remember Billy Graham dissing the Jews to Tricky Dick. My bonafides include a one-day win of $22,500 on a prominent quiz show, but that was back in 1991 well before the Slog was invented by Samuel Finley Breese Morse. Hit me up if you think we're a fit. I am also a social alcoholic.

Ack. I missed the first round draft picks. And the second round too. I'm gonna end up playing for the farm team.

Well, I'm a maybe anyway unless I find a sitter.

Remember ladies, I have passed the mensa test and I'm straight.

Wait. I forgot. Slog Happy is always a sausage fest and the 7 or so ladies within 10 years of my age are all in relationships. Oh well. Trivia domination, drunkeness and tear-lubricated masturbation happen to me pretty much every night, why should Thursday be different?
