City Skatepark Meeting Tonight
posted by May 8 at 13:37 PM
onTonight, skatepark designers Newline and VDZ are holding the second design meeting for the Seask8 rebuild at Seattle Center. The meeting will be held in the Shaw Room from 6:30-8, where Newline and VDZ will present conceptual designs for the park.
One thing the new park apparently won’t include is a skate bowl, which has created a bit of a shitstorm over on VDZ’s SeaSk8 message board.
If you want to see a bowl—which won’t be possible because of construction issues—or any other features, show up to tonight’s meeting and give VDZ a respectful earful.
In other skating news, the Woodland Park Skatepark will officially open Saturday, June 7th.

The Woodland Park Skatepark is open, has been for a while.
They mean a ribbon cutting.
But no skatebowl?
HERESY!
Once again Bill Gates and Paul Allen stomp on sk8rs.
The funny thing about the Woodland Park Skatepark is just how inobtrusive it is after all the brouhaha stirred up by that crazy lady who thought she was a Neighborhood Association. The thing is about a mile from the nearest house, and she probably wouldn't be able to hear the skaters if they were having a gun battle.
Can't they build an above ground bowl ala above ground pool?
heck, I can't even hear them when I eat my lunch down there ... but I can hear the boats.
Boats, Will? In Woodland Park? Boats, really?
Again...can someone explain to me why skaters (oh...excuse me..."sk8ers") deserve a skatepark at Seattle Center? Why is a perfectly good building, that gets used by lots of community and festival groups, being torn down for a park that everyone has already started bitching about?
I don't get it.
