Reality is, these smart little devils come back each year and bring their friends to an area they don't really normally frequent and put their dent in the run. Shooting the smart ones might sound counter productive, especially to sea world fans, but it will ultimately reduce the numbers that come.

But in the end, the real problem with low salmon runs is commercial ocean (over)fishing.

Ultimately, hydroelectric dams do more to protect the environment than they do to harm it. But if we're going to use them, we have to regulate our other water resources much more heavily.
