Is this an obituary? Whatever it is, thanks.
Oh, I don't know, most of his stuff looks like throw-up after a heavy night of drinking and drugging to me.
Wow. Thats a great Obit. There are not a lot of folks in my day to day life whom I can share my true admiration for Mr. Rauschenberg without getting some raised eyebrows. Starting in high school and moving all through art school I always felt a strong affinity for all of his work. Particularly some of his later highly technical printmaking pieces. It was very nice to see some of my feelings for his work put so succinctly. Thanks!
speaking of DeKooning, anyone notice that the best painting in the SAM's collection, DeKooning's "Pink Woman", has been put in storage?
They also have NO Guy Andersons on display.
That's some bullshit.
A very nice remembrance. Thanks, Jen.
I, too, was shocked, though I guess I shouldn't be considering his age. Though, I hadn't realized that Rauschenberg was as old as my grandfather, who also died just recently. It is a testament to the power of his ideas and their contemporary resonance that in my mind's eye Rauschenberg is still an iconoclastic twenty-something.
I just liked Rauschenberg because he used a lot of brown. I like brown.
Thanks Jen, that was great.
Great artist, great good bye.
Too bad his impact is not as appreciated now. ANd too bad every emo, art school cunt copies him endlessly.
It's hard to think of him as EIGHTY-TWO. Jesus Christ, when did that happen? All the young punks and their wrinkled old faces. Here we go.
