Seattle slugger Richie Sexson was suspended for six games and fined Friday by Major League Baseball after charging the mound and throwing his helmet at a Texas pitcher the previous night.Bob Watson, baseball’s vice president in charge of discipline, cited Sexson for “violent and aggressive actions.”
Sexson asked the players’ association to appeal, and any suspension will be delayed until after a hearing.
Seattle’s Felix Hernandez and Texas’ Gerald Laird and Sidney Ponson also were fined.
Good. I was closer to getting hit by that ball then he was. And I was at home.
And he even admitted a motive for his actions. Duh.
Maybe the Sonics could play at Safeco, since the Mariners aren't using it anymore.

Of course, this means more Cairo/Bloomquist at 1B. Jesus. Starting Miguel Cairo at 1B is proof positive that you wouldn't recognize a clue if it was going through your pockets.
Gah. Not that the M's roster is any kind of awesome box of chocolates, but I'd rather be seeing Greg Norton at first base.
Greg Norton's a Brave now. We don't appear to have anybody in the entire system who can play 1B -- the easiest position to play, and the easiest to fill. Unless you work for the Mariners, that is.
You knew Norton wasn't going to play AAA ball after they designated him. He's a good fit for the Braves, with all the young guys they have. Surprising ball club this year. I'm glad we get 'em in interleague.
Bloomquist can't hit; who knows what Cairo can do. They gonna put a C at 1B? That McLaren guy sure seems pretty beat down. Lotsa leaks in the boat.
_I_ know what Cairo can do. Fuck-all, that's what Cairo can do. He hits like Bloomquist, and plays defense worse than Sexson. He's TERRIBLE, and has no value to this or any other team.
I think it's sick that you people are discussing baseball lineups when we obviously have a problem with white-on-white crime.

you can watch it on mlb.com. i did a little searching for it because there is still some remainder of my late 90s obsession with richie sexson (when he played for the indians).
