It’s muggy in the office and we’re scrambling to wrap up this week’s issue and our enormous SIFF guide… and I can’t come up with a better excuse as to why Slog is so slow this afternoon. Why don’t you tell us what we should be writing about in this space.

What's a Slog?

This week's issue of what?

What's a SIFF guide?

Me. We should be talking about me. Specifically, where should I get my hair cut next? My regular thing has disappointed me, and the last two places I went were AWFUL. I'm open to anyplace except ones where the staff are into that rockabilly look.

Darcy Burner about to speak to UAW (the union that academic student employees are part of) on campus at UW. Yeah Darcy!!

WE should be talking about what I should have for dinner tonight. You'd think that 4 years of culinary school would incite me to be able to make decisions about such things, but I can't for the life of e think of something tasty to eat tonight that is both filling and cold. Maybe a good pasta salad. Hmmm....

Maybe instead of Freaky Fridays you guys should do Freaky Mondays the day before you have a major issue coming out.

I have a question, how exactly do you select what slog tips are posted? I feel like I'm doing it wrong somehow since no tip I send in is ever posted.

I would like to see slog dedicated exclusively to Furnishings and China, with occasional forays into The Bible As Literature.

Fnarf, I get my hair done at a very strange place in a dismal strip mall in Auburn. The lady does a wonderful job, is extremely inexpensive, and she has the clipper attached to a vacuum, like a commercial flowbe, so there's no mess.

Or you could go to the beauty parlor on Beacon Avenue that all the elderly ladies in the neighborhood go to. They all get exactly the same hairdo. It might work for you, too!

Fnarf, try Follicle on the west side of Broadway between E Pine and E Pike; it's indie minus the attitude and reasonably priced. Patricia is great with men's heads.

Auburn's a bit far to go, Catalina, but thanks for the tip.

Wisepunk, I agree. I like big ones with small aureoles.

Josh's Mom: surely you saw this? http://slog.thestranger.com/2008/03/revolution_9

hmmm @8
I saw Josh Feit just last Saturday walking down Pine towards downtown wearing a t-shirt under a basketball jersey and thought it was the oddest 'look'.It was hot, the hottest day of the year so far, and here this man had on two shirts instead of one. And he was weraing them completely backwards, as if he was hiding something, like his pale hirsute chest and arms. I remembered that someone on Slog keeps asking why Josh had been fired and then wondered myself, 'Has Josh really been fired ? And if so why ? And how has it been kept so hush hush?'
I wondered this partly because even when whispering Feit has an unsually loud voice and an almost bull in a china shop manner. I can't imagine him keeping quiet about anything, yet this rumor keeps resurfacing like a whisper. I should have asked him myself but I had just started drinking a pimm's cup at the bar at Machiavelli. If you've never had one go on some Monday because bartender Joanna really makes one of the finest pimm's cups I've experianced in North America.

umm ...I was typing while you was postting fnarf. We think so much alike you and I. Did you also grow up as poor black child on Chicago's south side ?

Josh resigned, took a little time off, and is looking for a new gig, as far as I know. Also, he plays basketball. I wish there were a juicy scandal to whisper in your ear, Riz, but there isn't. Josh worked for the paper for a long time and left on good terms. Change for change's sake is often wise.

I used to go to the 65th St Salon but the guy there that I trust seems to be gone. Maybe I'll go over to Broadway and try Follicle. I've been feeling kind of lost on the whole thing. Plus my hair keeps growing.

Did anyone see my tearing off the roof vid on my blog? I was acting, of course. But still.

@20 I gotta admit, I'm a bit disappointed in the video. I mean really, where was the time lapse photography of the roof being torn apart and rebuilt? Where was the choir?

Oh, can't you see it? I has all that stuff. And more. How much RAM do you have? Upgrade your RAM and watch it again. Lots of the best YouTubes have to have the most cutting edge hardware to get the most quality from them. Mine especially.

Did you also grow up as poor black child on Chicago's south side ?
No, Riz, I didn't, but my dreams sometimes I'm a white boy trying to get into the South Side clubs in the late 20s to hear Louis Armstrong, whom I firmly believe to be the greatest cultural figure in American history. But I've never been there. I've only spent a couple of days on the North Side, and a day wandering around the loop.

I was nearly overcome with excitement, Elenchos. In fact, I foolishly grabbed a hammer right in the middle of it and bashed a hole in my living room wall. What the hell was I thinking?

I was kind of hoping that you would YELL "tear the roof" etc. instead of whispering it like that.

More articles on why the Stranger staff is going for the rockabilly look and how we can too.

Either that or more articles on sun worship. Or how to tag Stranger "newspaper" boxes with un-artistic tags and get covered by the Stranger at the same time.
