Slog - Comments on Onward To the Rules & Bylaws Committee!

Tomorrow Hillary Clinton takes her fantastic campaign voyage to the Rules & Bylaws Committee of the Democratic National Committee, which she hopes will resolve the Michigan and Florida mess in her favor and thus convince the country that she should be the nominee. As a general rule I'd say that when the fate of your campaign hinges on the vote of a committee within a committee, you're not in a good spot. Or maybe it just means you're a Democrat. In any case, here's a primer on what to expect....

Am I the only one who thinks the Rules Committee should simply enforce the rules? Why is it that Clinton feels the rules shouldn't apply to her? She was perfectly fine with the rules when she thought she had the nomination in the bag, but now that she has no other way to get the nomination she demands that they bend the rules JUST FOR HER.

Every day, Clinton supplies another reason why she is unfit for the office of the Presidency. No wonder she keeps praying for a spotlight to fall on Obama's head.

So I'm an Obama supporter and a fairish support of the "rules" but I can see one advantage of changing the rules and even seating all of the delegates: it means the end of Iowa and NH in 2012. What could the dems possibly do in 2012? Say: OK guys we REALLY mean it THIS TIME: no queue jumping. Maybe we could even have a national primary & just get this crap over with.

Dear Hillary,

Please stop. You are losing credibility and empathy by the minute. Were you treated poorly by the media? Yes. Was there rampant sexism in this campaign? Yes. Does that mean you should keep at this horrible losing game, insulting the very voters that had confidence in you? No. Just stop. Please.

End the pettiness. End the stereotype. Just smile and wave and stump for Obama. I am sorry things didn't work out for you. I really am. I am sorry I probably won't see a woman president in my lifetime. I truly wish things had played out differently, that you had picked a better staff, that you hadn't made huge tactical errors throughout your campaign. You ruined your chances, you made the mistakes that cost you the nomination. I understand that is a bitter pill to swallow, but you must swallow it. It's your fault, and you need to grow up and take responsibilty. You aren't going to win.

Take the silver medal. This just wasn't your time sweetheart.

Hugs and Kisses,

Women everywhere

Well said, OM@4, except that this ...

I am sorry I probably won't see a woman president in my lifetime.

is ridiculous, particularly because I know you're not a senior citizen. If you told people, in 2003, would believe that a black Illinois state legislator was to be the Democrats' nominee in 2008, how many would ask what you were smoking?

And if She doesn't get what She wants tomorrow, She can appeal to the Seating Committee, which doesn't meet until the convention. That way She gets a convention fight, in which all bets are off and all delegates are back on the table. That's the only way She has a greater than zero chance of being president, but will also doom the Democrats in November.

Raise your hand if you think Her loyalty to party and country is stronger than Her ambition and entitlement.

Do we really need Hillary to stump for Obama? There must be some way to avoid that. Couldn't she just go away? I'm saying that because I picture her telling people to vote for him while we all know she thinks he only McCain is qualified to be President.

@9,

I don't know about her loyalty to party and country, but if she takes this to the convention and loses, her political career will be over. I guess it depends whether she's willing to take that chance. Being a U.S. Senator is nothing to sneeze at. I guess we'll see whether she's willing to throw that in the garbage.
