Declare victory?

Seems a little pompous to me.

Yeah, declaring victory just because he has more votes, more delegates, and more support? What a pompous ass.

....moving on. Is there a chance this will happen in Oregon, to coincide with his huge victory here on May 20?!?

As an hrc supporter who hopefully is objective, and wants obama to win, @1, yes he should declare victory.
he can do it after winning oregon on the 20th, hell he can do it now if he wants.
it's wise to take your victories -- it is not pompous. the democrats need to be more comfortable with power -- as in declaring victory and moving on. they should have declared victory in iraq several years ago then cut off funding.

he can come off as not being pompous at all if he says it the right way; his last speech was in the right vein w/ gracious words of unity.

perhaps there will be a big party in portland? he should make sure it happens early enough to be on tv back east.

I think Obama should have done that on Tuesday night. He needs to thank Hillary for her service to her nation and say he looks forward to working with her in the Senate when he moves to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave in January.

Obama needs to focus on McCain first and foremost! IT IS GAME TIME SO BRING IT ON YOU GOP BITCHES!!!! BRING IT ON!!!!!!

Help me out Obmamaites. I want to feel good about this. Exactly which red states will he get that Gore and Kerry did not? I'm assuming Obama will keep the blue states (right?) I'm serious here, and calling on well informed political junkies to give me the specifics. I like Obama and his policies, but I'm worried about the spin against him in "middle America" and McCain swooping in as a "Washington maverick who is not your typical GOP hack" to keep the status quo intact (Dem congress / GOP white house) Where will the real battles take place this fall?

states that could swing blue this time:
New Mexico
Virginia
Colorado
Nevada

Virginia would be the big one. If Obama retains Kerry's blue states plus Virginia, bingo.

But it's early to start doing delegate math. It may not matter -- in a good or bad way. We'll see.

@5... it's too early for Obama to declare victory. He's going to get crushed in WV and Kentucky next week, and it would look bad for him and the a party to have the winner's first step out the gate be a 20 point loss in two states. Let Hillary win, and Obama can wrap things up in Oregon on the 20th.

From #1 @ #4

I concede...it would not be pompous. Those are some great points.

@7 - Thanks, mackro mackro. I have one brother in Southwest Colorado and one brother in Santa Fe NM so I know who to put pressure on for change.
