"Produced by the actions of his son?" Sounds like Charles may be on to something if even the Hutch is heading that way...

"Produced by the actions of his son."

Isn't that just a euphemism for... MURDER???

"Justice must be served. Dear Lord, father God in Heaven, please find it in your will to cripple this family and send this son to jail so that I may somehow find a way to merge homosexuality into this equation."

Shame on you.
This was an accident that has a very sad and tragic result.
To imply it was intentional, just because you don't like christians, is idiotic.
What the fuck?

I like what Charles said better.

This is a lovely follow-up. It shows that Charles is truly irreverent, not just posing. He is so refreshing.

If it were the 5-year-old daughter running over the son, everybody would be laughing.

Exactly, @5. Why is it that only the GOOD things that happen to Xtians, or conversely, the BAD things that happen to Godless infidels, are considered "God's will", but everything else that happens is the responsibility of individuals?

@14 - Where's the Prince of Darkness in this equation? I have to believe the Mighty Lucifer hates xian music as much as the rest of us. Well, besides #7 and #12.

At least Hutch didn't describe the girl as an "adopted daughter." Adoption is an event in a child's life, it is not a state in which the child exists throughout his or her life.

White perpetrator + non-white victim = *yawn*

People only get upset when it's the other way around.

"accident produced by the actions of" What kind of grammar is that?

I am not in any way, shape or form endorsing any Christian's anti-gay fear or the stupid things they say; but enough. Seriously. For all we know his child could've been a lesbian, have grown up to have a best friend who is gay or lesbian, or be the one standing by one of her siblings when they get around to coming out to dear old Dad (to post just a few scenarios). I've seen it happen - and wake up calls come to some to people in funny ways, sometimes very late in the game. I worked with a family who in their ministry, sad to say, would publicly demean gay and lesbians, and after their son came out to them, and they had people support them and work through their fears with them, are now some of the biggest supporters of PFLAG and speak to groups about their regret in their fear. More hatred doesn't breed hope, and certainly not in the wake of a child's tragic death. Even if you don't grieve with or for the family, and have great reasons for resenting this family, please stop yourself from saying one more stupid thing that just makes you sound like a total asshole.

If one posits the existence of an all-knowing and all-powerful entity, one must accept that nothing happens without that entity's consent and approval. In other words, every event is according to the will of that entity. In still other words, God wanted that child dead.

@ 21 - Actually - you're probably not an asshole at all; you're probably someone I'd like very much who has had enough of the damage the Christian right can do in this country in the name of a loving God; and I get that - fair enough. I've just been with a family today who's child is dying and I can't do anything to help them and logged on to laugh about things like being able to personalize your condoms with your own picture, and was sucked in by this story. I can't find a reason to celebrate a any child's death, particularly right now, and randomly vented to the great Slog void. My bad.

This post and the one earlier by Mr. Mudede are almost as classy as fundies laughing at Ted Kennedy's diagnosis. Almost.

@ 1, 2, 19: One of his teenage sons accidently hit his now-deceased daughter with a vehicle. If people aren't careful, this could happen to anyone. His daughter wasn't very old, like 6 or something, and sadly many deaths in this set happen this way.
