More Human Than Human

posted by on May 2 at 12:06 PM

Blade Runner: The Final Cut is the midnight movie at the Egyptian tonight and tomorrow. This 2007 release, overseen by Ridley Scott on the occasion of the film’s 25th birthday, is a new digital print with polished special effects, audio remastered in Dolby 5.1, extended pivotal scenes, more violence, and some minor dialog and plot alterations.

Go, especially if you haven’t seen it since you were a kid in the ’80s. The dystopian classic is more gripping, more lush, and sexier than ever.

It really is worth seeing on a big screen.

"I need more life, father" is the biggest bunch of bullshit since Greedo shot first.

Jonah S is right. Fucking bullshit!

In 9th grade I lucked out when I saw it at the Egyptian: "The infamous workprint briefly resurfaced, by accident, for a one-week engagement (1/15 - 1/21) at the Seattle, WA Landmark Egyptian Theater in 1999. However, this print was the one-of-a-kind 70mm blow-up, directly from Warner Bros.' vault!"

All the versions I've seen since seem to suck by comparison.

OOOH, I saw the final cut at Cinerama and it ROCKS!!!

If you love Blade Runner and haven't seen this, do it! I command you!

Jonah,

I totally expected to switch to suck when this version ran at Cinerama a bit ago.

I ended up finding "father" a bit creepier.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those...moments will be lost in time, like tears...in rain. Time to die.

I love , LOVE, L O V E this movie. Best movie ever.

I never did see this version, however. Missed it at the Cinerama last year.

Thanks for the tip.

That movie gave me a permanent, lifelong lech for Rutger Hauer. Oh wait, that's everything I've ever seen him in.

I saw this cut when it showed in LA a few weeks back. Definitely worth going out of the way to see it. The soundtrack still holds up after all this time.
