Nepotism Jones. Oh well, I like Ryan. He's totally gay.
"Next week there will be peasant dances and a feast in my son's honor. Also, with his promotion, my son gains the right of first night. If you are engaged to be married, please let management know so that we can adjust Ryan's schedule."
execs need to come up with some new templates for these types of communications.
every time I read a variation of the "please join me in..." line, i want to tear out my eyes.
i just did a search of my email on the exact phrase "please join me in" and it is maddening:
"Please join me in welcoming Sean..."
"Please join me in welcoming Deborah..."
"Please join me in congratulating Jaime..."
"Please join me in congratulating John..."
all within the last few weeks. grr.
The Blethens promoting a Blethen? To run their family newspaper? The audacity!
"inculcating the 5th generation"? you mean "to impress upon the mind by frequent repetition or persistent urging" inculcate?
oh well, i suppose you're a publisher, not an editor...
For some reason I picture Frank Blethen cursing Roosevelt and chomping on big cigars...
I always picture him in a wheelchair, clutching the money that stupid Uncle Billy left unattended and plotting the demise of George Bailey and the Savings & Loan...
Well, at least he'll stop writing that stupid column.
Will he promise not to shoot the neighbor's dog?
And they wonder why most subscribers to the PI with weekly subscriptions are dropping the weekend Times part and just getting daily PI from Monday to Friday ...
If we could get Monday to Saturday, we would.
The market has spoken.
Way to pass the turd, Frank.
Welcome aboard, Ryan! Now, about these deck chairs...
Well sure it's nepotism, but it's a family business, so what do you expect?
I mean, if you've been busting your ass there for years in the hopes of making Associate Publisher, the joke's on you isn't it?
