It's important to remember that he's not being charged for using steroids - which were perfectly legal at the time - but rather for lying about it. That said, though, I hope both he and Roger Clemens both go down hard.

Maybe the Seahawks will take him.

Seems the Olympics have had the "No Drugs" policy since at least 1988. What has Baseball been doing all that time?

I'd still rather have him than Griffey.

@2: It was not perfectly legal at the time, or now for that matter. The gov't tends to think a doctor should prescribe steroids.

Wow, professional athletes sometimes use "performance-enhancing" drugs, and then lie about it? From first glance, it seems similar to prosecuting a ballet dancer for denying that she's anorexic.

Why does anyone care about Barry Bonds? Seriously. Why does anyone care about Roger Clemens? Seriously. Are we so unwilling to give up our winners just because they do a little pill-popping? After all, they provide us with the victories we're so desperate for in this bread vs. circus world.

People the world throughout are daily being eviscerated by bombs and shit or starving and shit or being ruled by incompetent despots and shit, and our little noses perk up in a snit because our designated gods use steroids. Please - a little perspective, you morons.

Thanks for the tip, Rhett.

So until bombs, starvation and despotism are finally eliminated, we're not allowed to talk about sports?

"Put an end"? Au contraire. This opens up the possibility of Bonds playing for the Mariners as part of a plea bargain.
