Spitfire is nice.
I agree, Spitfire is ok.
Bonzai, not that this lurker would ever show up to such an elitest event.
it should be in West Seattle but if that doesn't happen then maybe the Nite Lite.
Tia Lou's has a great patio and margarita's!
Vessel is lovely (nice size mingling room upstairs).
How about the upper level at The Rendezvous?
Rendezvous is Perfect.. Slog happy folks could stick around for a STIFF Movie or variety show afterward if they wanted
I think COMTE nailed it, but I won't be attending so poo.
How about somewhere in Baltimore?
@4: HAhaha, yah, right.
Wait, you're serious?
West Seattle. Riiiiiight.
If Poe isn't going I'm not going! *tantrum*
Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.
Ha ha ha.
poe, you MUST be there! who's going to grab my generous behind? who will be the generous recipient of paid-for PBRs?
The back room of Shorty's. They have Martin Denny on the jukebox.
#15 FTW!
fnarf FTW! i've always wanted to visit shorty's. and we can have a cha-cha contest if martin denny is on the jukebox. hernandez? i'll buy ya beer if ya cha cha with me (wink wink nudge nudge).
Fnarf beat me to it - back room at Shorty's is a great idea.
(I would also consider the Rendezvous or the Nite Lite acceptable venues for nomination)
@17 - Say no more!
How about CHAC?
It _would_ have to be in the first half of June.
Hahahaaahahaaahahaaaaa!!!!!
Casuelita's
If Mr. Poe isn't going and W7ngman isn't going then I'm not going, unless Scary Tyler Moore teaches me how to cha-cha.
Depending on what you mean by "downtown" I think some good possibilities are: Jillian's, Upstairs room at Fuel, Alibi Room, Kells, and Owl and Thistle. I realize the Slog Happy vibe is not really sports bar friendly, but they are the places that always have good happy hour deals. My $.02 anyway.
Is the new "Little Darlings" club above Fantasy Unlimited going to be open by then?
I realize the Slog Happy vibe is not really sports bar friendly
what makes you say that?
Ever heard of the Speakeasy, in Belltown? It's got a great room--no booths!--great beer and great coffee. Plus it's got cheap, OG computers everywhere, so we can just keep Slogging each other, and none of us will actually have to interact personally.
Plus there's a great pool hall upstairs!
C'mon, Cher--sock it to me!

It'll be June. How about someplace where it could happen outdoors? I say this knowing many sloggers are afraid of the light of day.
What about Cowgirls, Inc?
Rendezvous. Duh.
Outside patio? How about beer pong too? That'd be Teddy's on Roosevelt.
For downtown, Alibi Room and Spitfire are both great, and the servers at both are really nice. Whiskey Bar wins hands-down on happy hour specials though.
Hold it in my pants, 'cause momma I'm comin' home.
Can you make it someplace wheelchair accessible? I would finally like to come to one.
Naw, seriously, hold it at the McLeod Residence, that looks pretty interesting, or Mars Bar/Cafe Venus (way fucking cool and unrecognized great dive) or the 9lb Hammer, which is not so great for people biking home drunk, though, but otherwise fantastic.
Wait, do these places still exist?
Wait... didn't the Speakeasy burn down, like, years ago? I must be missing some sort of joke.
What about Smith? I'm not sure what the happy hour specials are, but I'm pretty sure I'm in love with the poutine.
I'd also accept anywhere with a patio-- that we can boot non-Slog people out of.
Cookie Monster-
The Speakeasy burnt down in May 2001. That is seven years ago now. The site is now a half used dirt parking lot.
It was a great place.
Could you do a little fact checking before posting.
Lowell's at Pike Place market. Not sure on their happy hour, but regular drinkin there is pretty cheap, and it has a beautiful view and lots of space, all table, no booths.
But the real question is: Will there be enough Wine and Food at any location we choose for Fnarf to show up. My guess is no.
mcleod residence? no. i think their policy is hipsters only, and i'm more artificial hip than hipster. cafe venus? sounds likes a titty bar. 9lb hammer? sounds like a biker bar. i like shorty's. fnarf and will in seattle can have a pinball contest. loser does an austrian rugby team in lithuania homage. heh heh.
Zander,
You've walked right into my trap. Bwaaaaa-ha-ha-ha-haaaaa!!!! The shocking truth is, I started hanging out at the Speakeasy back in 1995, and still miss it dearly. Now if you'll excuse me, my good friend Cher and I are gonna go share a bowl of Fruity Pebbles at Squid Row.
Get it? Me and "Cher" are gonna "share" a "bowl"? Bwaaaaa-ha-ha-ha-haaaaa!
Fuck yes! I'm finally back in town and can attend one of these again. Will Inga come too? Gotta check with her... we do have a new babysitter...
Maybe 2 Bells? It would be @33 accessible and is really a cool place.
Another vote for Spitfire. They've been good to me for election debate coverage.
Have it at Smith! Lots of big long communal tables.
I vote for either 2bells, smith or shorty's. 2bells has a patio out back + nummy beer.
Smith has Entertainment! by Gang of Four on the jukebox. I wanna hear "Natural's Not In It" with my Slog Happy. Just sayin'!
@39 - pinball? I don't really play that. 2bells is cool - and I vaguely remember a dart board there ... but we should have a special SLOG Happy Hour drink there. Or popcorn shrimp.
Downtown is for elitists and Clinton supporters. How about holding it at the Twilight Exit. Give the Central District some Stranger lovin.
Bonefish Grill in Bothell. Nuff said.
Yes on Shorty's or the 'Vous
Spitfire...make them let people bring iPod's to play music though. iPod playlist happy hour. Good times.
what makes you say that?
Because Sloggers are elitist economists, obviously!
My vote is for Smith. The food is good, and at 6ish on a Thursday we can completely take the place over.
What's this, O. Monique is callin' me out? Or is she calling me FAT? What did I ever do to her to make her hate my cynical ass, anyways? Besides maybe leer a little, but I do that to everyone.
Downtown is better simply because there's convenient buses, and Slog Happy isn't something I should be driving home from.
Fnarf, Monique thinks you're a little hard on Will in Seattle. I do not agree. I think it's impossible to get hard on Will in Seattle.
I have treated Will with restraint and gentility, considering the circumstances.
Fnarf, I loves ya...It's just you been snubbin us at Slog Happy. I also remember you saying you didn't want to go because there wasn't wine (I thought it was a lame excuse) and there wasn't food. I figure we give you wine and food, and you'd have to come. ;)
Also: Cabs are a beautiful thing.
I miss Slog.
Downtown Portland has plenty of places that meet the criteria.
Blogtown never does nothing.
BARCA. 'ello!
upstairs at Rendezvous
Spitfire would be happy to have the event. Happy Hour is 4-7pm with both food and drink specials. I can reserve the north deck area and yes, Meinert, I will play your ipod, if you bring it
I second Two Bells. I have wanted to try their hamburgers and I can get there by bus in my chair.
Cabs cost too damn much. I've taken more cabs than you've had hot dinners, and I'm tired of shelling out $25 to get home.
Sounds like many votes for Spitfire, and Mandy talks like a champ. Maybe Dan can come with his hoodies and ear buds and pretend we're all dead.
