You might be able to say something like, as women age, the value society attributes to them diminishes (I thought that bit in Paul Constant's piece on masculinity was interesting). Or that society tends to judge a woman's looks more harshly than a man's...

By way of reference, check out the amount of media coverage and mockery made of McCain's age--and then think about how much of it has anything whatsoever to do with how he LOOKS at his advanced age.
