Evangelicals warn of politicizing faith

We wouldn’t want to see that happen, now would we?

They don't want to politicize it if it will not get them more power: And don't you think it is a little late to be saying this?!?!

BWAH HA HAH.

my fundy christian relatives all loved Bush and rubbed him and his Iraq war in everyone's faces when his approval ratings were high and opposing the Iraq war made you "objectively pro-Saddam."

they all said things like "Bush is a man of God. He's a good christian."

now that he's the least popular president of the modern age and the iraq war has been revealed to be a fraud and a quagmire, they're all backing away from their hero worship and saying things like "Actually, I'm not sure if Bush is even really a christian..."

Bush's failed presidency has essentially broken the christianist stranglehold on the right. the evangelical bloc is, and deserves to be, permanently marginalized.

The whole point is the "evangelical bloc" isn't supposed to be a bloc. Christianity shouldn't be a demographic or a political party, seeing as people from every race, nation, language and background are all present in God's kingdom, according to the Bible. Christians in other nations very often hold very different political positions, and to determine orthodoxy on the political spectrum would require marginalizing those Christian brothers and sisters.

This is not the "evangelical movement" changing its mind, this is one generation seeking to amend the abuse of the previous one.

Look guys, this is progress. The faithful aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer, but I encourage them in their attempts to think coherently. Next step, heliocentrism!
