Pat the bunny. The mangy, mangy bunny...
General Woundwort's body was never found.
My dog just found a rabbit's nest in our back yard. There were 3 bunnies in it, two squirmed out, but I put them back. The other one stayed in the shallow nest. I'm going to check on them tomorrow morning to see if they're okay.
Of course this means that my dog can't run free in the back yard unless I drown the bunnies or something. . .
Balt-O-Matt: I went outside once to get the dogs in (in my verrrrryyyy tiny backyard with its concrete patio and small strip of grass) and found my 15-year-old Sheltie eating a baby rabbit. Which he later vomited all over my carpet--it was the nastiest mess I have ever had to clean up. The other two in the shallow, fur-lined scrape were taken by crows (thank goodness--otherwise I would have had to get rid of them somehow).
The next year, some dumb-ass rabbit did the EXACT same thing. My old dog had died by then, and the only other of my dogs who had any interest in the rabbits would stand watching them intently, jumping a little every time they moved, but never trying to eat them. I think, however, that they were taken by a larger bird also.
If I were you, I'd hope for a hawk. They carry disease, your dog probably won't leave them alone, and hey, that's why rabbits reproduce so quickly.
Hi, this is Albrecht Durer.
I've been dead for over five hundred years, but the Sonny Bono Immortal Copyright Law says that this artist should go to jail. Now. Sofort!
