cute, but a handgun has a peak effective range of around 40ft. like the Brady incident, you would have to be close enough to stab to shoot someone with a handgun, assuming the secret service is around.

So shouldn't they be handing out vouchers for either guns or bibles, then?

If he finds the "guns and bibles" comment offensive, then I find him defensive.

Our society can only progress as fast as our most ignorant elements will allow us.

On the topic of guns, protection, and Barack Obama: Strangely, some of Obama's rallies have been protected by TSA. See discussion of a Louisville rally at FlyerTalk and of an Oregon rally on the TSA blog.

A bit out-of-scope for an organization that is supposed to ensure travel safety, huh?

Well, when the value of your full gas tank approaches $300.00, you'll want something to protect it, too.

Wonder how many of these customers will be first time gun owners who otherwise couldn't afford a firearm, and who still now can't afford any training to go with it.

@1 is right. Most qualified people can't hit much past about 10 to 15 meters with a handgun.

Best advice if someone has a handgun? Stick your car keys in their eyes and run into a crowded store and yell FIRE!
