It's obviously Mr. Poe, looking for another Jew.

this is taken from a myspace bulletin from rodney of the bus stop.

"I am all too cavalier about walking home by myself. Please take this seriously, I'd hate to see anyone get hurt.

Gary and I were walking home at 2:30 AM on Saturday (late Friday) on 13th between Olive and Denny when a man jumped out from behind bushes and attempted to shoot some type of weapon at us. It clicked twice and I saw a silhouette of what looked like a gun but Gary said he saw two lights on the gun and must have been a tazer. Nothing happened, he told us not to run and we ran a block away and called the police.

We (suprisingly) hadn't had much to drink but still couldn't make a clear identification because it was so dark. BE CAREFUL. I'm 6'4'', 225 pounds and don't look like I have any money at all. The HIll just isn't as safe as it used to be.

When the police came they told us to take 12th or other well lit streets home which might be good advice to everyone. It makes me really sad it has come to this. I've never seen so much crime for such a prolonged period in this neighborhood."

I sadly do not have a snappy musical we could to tasers to. Sorry gang.. but there is a School House Rock song about electricity we could all sing on the hill.

It's amazing how much fucked up shit happens within a five block radius of the Capitol Hill police station.

Every time I see on-duty bike copes leisurely biking around Greenlake I think, for a second or two, that perhaps I should have become a cop.

Did the tazerer say something about the victims' Jewishness? If not, what the hell does that have to do with anything?

Hold on a second...How did the tazer-nazi know they were Jews? Your post doesn't say.
Were they wearing kippah and/or tzitzit?
(it was night time so probably not tzitzit) Did they have big yellow stars sewn on their coats?

Really what does this have to do with them being Jewish?
I would like more information on this, should I be more concerned than normal about my Jewish-ass being tazed? Was this a hate crime? Or was it random that they happened to be Jews, and you only bring up the fact that they were Jewish because you know them personally, and it draws more attention to your post?

Sadly, with the economy going down the toilet and the gas prices rising, all we are going to see is more and more crime.

Keep your cell phones on you, or even prentending to talk on one will deter would-be theives.

@7 I think you meant @6 because I've always found you the model of eloquence so I know you aren't meaning to be self-referential.

Nobody should be cavalier when walking the streets. I am constantly watching around myself, including who's behind me. Never stop when someone approaches. Keep walking. I'm serious. I see women stop for strange men asking questions all the time and that is very dangerous. Maybe it's because I have lived in many more dangerous cities that I know these things but they work. Seattle streets have become much more dangerous since I moved here twenty years ago. If somebody asks the time keep walking and tell them out loud. I have seen people looking at what kind of watch I had on. If you've heard all the stories I have, you'd know about being safe. Also, don't keep your wallet in your back pocket. That is a target. If it looks suspicious, keep moving and get to a phone. Follow your instincts. And never, I mean never, smart mouth a bunch of punks that are looking for someone to harass. Ignore them, look down, and get to a safe place. An insult is not worth a stab wound.
