Are most of the drug addicts in Belltown simply peeing on stuff and acting tweaky? Sure. But there's also a large number of people two days out of prison, sneaking into buildings, harassing women, getting in fights, etc. These are known as "crimes," and do not in any way contribute to the soul of an urban environment, but rather kill it.
Here's maybe a better way to frame it, in the manner John McCain is framing global warming as a national security risk: if we don't do anything about growing crime in places like Belltown and many others across Seattle, we'll end up with a mayor like Rudy.
The actual "crackheads" are more interesting and evidently have a better sense of theatre. Which begs the question of whether these guys were sober when then made this. They could be their "normal" selves or on something worse than crack. I can't decide which would be more tragic.
I hate whoever is doing the narration. I want to smoke crack out of their skull.
I lived in Belltown for 3 years and always thought that crackheads were just part of the atmosphere.
For hours of cheap entertainment, throw a couple of bits of styrofoam on the sidewalk. Stand back in amazement as crackhead after crackhead does their chicken-walk down the street and then stoops down to inspect the styrofoam. To the general population, it is obviously styrofoam, but it apparently looks like a rock to someone getting their jones on (i.e. anyone who hasn't gotten high in the last couple of minutes).
Also,
laser pointers + crackheads = fun
I know this sounds mean, but so is intimidating passers-by, using and disposing of condoms on the front porch of my building, and yelling through my window at 4am. That said, I kinda miss the old neighborhood.
The narrator sounds like Paul Lynde.
Mahtli69 I love you
"Stop it, crackheads! Stop it!"
Which seconds are funny?
I LOVE PAUL LYNDE. MAY HE REST IN PEACE!
It's not that funny because we decided that spending more than three hours on a practical joke is obsessive and we don't feel that strongly about it. We felt the videographer was a bit nasty -- everybody walking by was a crackhead, every female a hooker -- and exhibited a sheltered, easily disturbed nature. Sorry about the voice, but I find I can't imitate a young girl, especially one with a delicate nature, without sounding like Paul Lynde.
