Well, suiciders did come from there, during the Iraq-Iran war, when they used volunteers, mostly children, to run out (or be rolled out in carpets) into minefields to find the mines.

But the real answer is that Iran, unlike most of the Arab countries, is modernist at heart, whatever the bastard mullahs believe. The people of Iran are potentially our greatest allies in that region.

i agree FNARF. i think we blew a huge opportunity when there was a mini student pro democracy revolt in the 90's. thats the movement that should have been supported and would have given a lot more returns. instead we went into iraq and turned it into hell.
